- MCM ChristiansenJun 10, 20251.0I have been stuck inside my house without the ability to move freely outside. My Doctor sent me to this place and I did receive a prompt call for an appointment. Sadly, that was blown off with some mumbled excuse, and another appointment was made, again that one was blown off as the person being in another town. I have tried calling and get no calls back, my last phone call brought out the Marine language in me because this is nothing but a fly by night operation it seems. Lazy staff.

We tried everything to get it back down. We were in touch with David from National Seating & Mobility and he fixed the problem remotely over the phone. We are so appreciative of you David for doing this for us. When we are ready for a new chair, this is where we will purchase from. Thank you so much David! Highly recommend!

If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).

Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
