Nobody even spoke to me when i walked in !!! Of course my babies was crying but i’m sorry i’m not like most moms that can just Drop there kids off !!! It was only one lady that took her time out to say something to me and give me a room to which i could take my kids into They looked at me as if i was disrupting there peace or as if it was a show !!!! Then On my way out the lady sitting at the desk just said i don’t see how u do it !!!!Like im a mother how do u expect me to do it !!! No Have a good day or anything actually nobody said Have a good day !!!Room full of whites that just look at black woman as if we aren’t enough or as if what we come for doesn’t matter Horrible experience will not be back At All !!!I will go to Another facility if needed but 0/10 i will not recommend !!!

I came in for a breast ultrasound after calling ahead twice to explain that I cannot have a mammogram due to PTSD and medical reasons. I was very clear about this and was told it would be noted and respected.
When I arrived, I was still asked to have a mammogram. I said no again. It was brought up more than once, even after the ultrasound had already started.
At that point something changed in my body. I stopped feeling like a patient and started feeling cornered. I ended up standing in the corner behind the curtain with my husband, trying to calm down, feeling like I needed to get out of the room. I was genuinely close to walking out. They lied to me and told me that the mammogram would hurt less because I have a breast augmentation, and I found out the truth later.
That is not how a medical appointment should feel.
I did everything I could ahead of time to prevent exactly that situation. I communicated clearly. I tried to advocate for myself. And I still ended up in a position where I had to escalate just to have my boundary taken seriously.
The staff member was kind afterward and did complete the ultrasound, and I did receive benign results, which I appreciate. But it should not take visible distress for a patient’s limits to be respected.
If a patient tells you ahead of time that something will trigger them, and you agree to honor that, then that needs to actually carry through to the appointment. Otherwise you are putting patients in a position where they feel trapped and unsafe.
Experiences like this are exactly why women avoid coming back for care.

Staff at the Bronson Breast Health Center are true heroes. So capable, dedicated, and well trained that I always marveled at the quality of care. The nurses (Kris, Cathy, Jennifer and others) extended themselves to make real connections at every encounter. These moments make all the difference at such times, become cherished memories.
