I absolutely love The Bronson hospital network. Battle Creek and Kalamazoo both have been outstanding. I have been in their care for 10 years or so. Nicole DeGraff, my PA, is by far the most caring, understanding doctor you could hope for. she is so sweet and kind. I have never had a bad experience with these hospitals. I have had a hysterectomy, spinal fusion in the lumbar and the cervical spine. I have had ureter surgery. Surgery to remove cysts from my fallopian tubes. So if any one is a pro, it's me.
I see all the bad reviews and think is it the hospital, is it the care teams, or is it the patient.
Most people don't have a great sense of humor when the feel like crap, to be expected. But, at the same time, I believe people read more into things than what really transpired. I am not saying anyone is lying. I am saying that people have the tendency to consider themselves the victim.
Meanwhile not considering their own actions, can affect the care they receive.
Not considering, the nurses and doctors work the most heinously abusive hours. 12 hour shift and then sometimes having to pull doubles, that's 24 hours. You know most of us are not going to take the best care of anyone working those hours.
And then you go to HR to complain and you feel like nothing was done. You weren't satisfied because this person that wronged you didn't get fired. Have you looked at the healthcare stats, there is a huge drop in young people wanting to enter the field. Why you say, well, they saw the footage of hospitals being overwhelmed during COVID. Body bags in streets and parking lots. Horrible scenes. So these hospitals truly can't afford to let go of even a mediocre nurse or doctor.
Next time you feel like your feelings got hurt, put yourself in their shoes for just a second. Maybe ask the nurse about their day. Ask them do you just not like me or you don't believe I am ill? There could be big misunderstanding. Or maybe a personality conflict. We are not all made to get along all the time, that's just how it is.
Honestly speak up for yourself, you shouldn't have to leave a hospital because nurses are snickering behind your back. When in reality it most likely has nothing to do with you. As far as not having empathy, you'll have to talk to society about that one.
