After my initial call to schedule an appointment, I received pages and pages to fill out for my son. Even though he had had a three hour in-depth consultation that University of Michigan would share with the office ..they still required about three hours of paperwork prior to his first appointment.
His first appointment was scheduled for this coming Tuesday with Cheryl Albertson. Out of the blue, she called me at home on a Saturday afternoon to tell me that she did not have Tuesday available. From there, I had the weirdest experience. I can’t even fully grasp at this moment. She was aggressive, belittling. I can’t even wrap my head around it. It was as if she had it in for me. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. She seemed angry. Like she was bored and thought I’m going to call this kids Parent and just give her hell.
I’m thinking I would not put my 17-year-old autistic son on the phone with this woman let alone in therapy. Just the conversation with her had me in tears. And I haven’t cried in probably three years. Definitely steer clear.

I think it's safe to assume they've changed hands based on some of the older reviews. Everyone I've spoken to has been incredibly kind and helpful. The office manager, Leigh, has always gotten back to me very quickly whenever I've had to leave a message (same day or next day) and is very personable. I do agree that the intake form is almost egregiously long (took me a little over 2hrs) and many of the questions are redundant, so it does need to be revised. However, it was worth it for the care I am receiving. My therapist is really good fit for me and is incredibly knowledgeable. I really like that I was given a bit of time to grow comfortable and develop trust and coping skills before getting into trauma work. I hope everyone seeking help can find as good of a fit :)

Let me start by saying that this place is a complete joke. If I could give them no stars, I would. My therapist who I recently saw here ended up leaving after I had been seeing her for a year. During her absence, she told me she understood if I needed to find a new therapist. I called the receptionist and they said they would call me back in a few days. I didn't end up hearing back for a week. The receptionist has absolutely no idea what she is doing and is extremely rude. They set me up with a new therapist which is the head therapist. Derrick didn't show up to my initial appointment as he was never notified by anybody. When I did end up meeting with Derrick, he didn't seem to want to help me at all. They also set me up with a appointment with Alison Badger, one of the psychiatrists. She didn't understand why I was seeing her even though I e-mailed her in advance and met with her before. Both Derrick and Alison both refused to fill out the paperwork that I requested. Derrick specifically told me, "there's no point in filling out the needed paperwork if you might not have a job tomorrow." Not really something you should say to a client that's experiencing PTSD, anxiety, and overwhelming stress. He then sent me to Alison and she didn't even notify me that she was refusing to fill the paperwork out. I had to call the receptionist to get a answer. Pretty sad you can't even reply to your clients. Once my therapist ended up leaving the company, I decided I wasn't going to waste my time here anymore. I filed a complaint with my insurance company. I would steer clear of this place. They only care about your money and don't care about helping you. You're better off somewhere else that actually takes the time to listen to you.
Terrible. All around terrible. One receptionist named Iggie was great. The rest of them, the therapist terrible. Left with more problems then I had when I first reached out for help.
CHERI ALBERTSON: I have seen multiple mental health professionals (lucky me) and this therapist was entirely unprofessional, I found her to be abrasive and rude. Her behavior was abnormal for a therapist and irresponsible. Within our initial 40 minutes of conversation she diagnosed me twice and made two different medicine recommendations (she is not a psychiatrist) and literally scoffed to my face. Later she called me and was very aggressive on the phone. I am shocked she thought these methods could be categorized as therapeutic. I'm lucky to know better and seek out another professional, but this could have been damaging to an individual who doesn't know better. Do NOT see this therapist.
P.S. The support staff at Heron Ridge was lovely
