I was new to this practice and unfortunately did not have a great experience.
I chose this office because my previous eye doctor was expensive, and we added new a new vision insurance plan which listed this new doctor as an option (although out of network). They had the cheapest exam fee and I would receive a rebate after the visit, which motivated me to pick this office. I waited a few weeks to get in and receive several texts prior to my arrival with prompts and reminders.
I arrived early and prepared with my things to fill out paperwork. I asked questions to make sure I understood what I was signing. I specifically explained that I was trying to avoid additional out-of-pocket costs and elected what was included in my visit. Despite that, I felt pressured by the nurse to purchase an additional service that I would have to pay out of pocket for. When asked why I switched doctors (it came up 4 times due to their sales like questions) I repeated how I chose this office and explained my vision plan etc.
The appointment itself felt somewhat disorganized. I waited a long time and was moved between different areas during the visit and the space felt very run down. But apparently they are renovating soon and have new computer systems already being used that staff were struggling with.
The doctor herself was not pushy, but the overall experience in the office felt very sales-oriented. During the exam, the doctor mentioned that if I did not purchase glasses through their office, they would not be able to help with adjustments, the person discussing glasses later mentioned this too and said without an additional fee. The doctor suggested X but had no clue if someone else would be able to give me this. (As far as I know I do not have a weird prescription. I am just getting started with glasses - I think pretty basic stuff) But that was disappointing to hear as a patient simply trying to obtain an accurate prescription.
Another challenge was that the terminology the doctor used during the exam did not match what appeared on my written prescription. When I called the office to ask for clarification so I could order glasses elsewhere, the response I received felt dismissive. So maybe it is just me that doesn't know the terminology but it still was not the language she used and I was given two prescriptions so I was confused and needed clarification. She never said she was giving me 2 prescriptions, I just assume it was two copies. The one positive interaction I had was with a front desk staff member who was polite and thanked me for arriving before my appointment to sign paperwork. I think I waited so long because two people were late and they let them go in "before me" which made me wait.
Overall, the experience felt more sales-focused than patient-focused, which was disappointing. I need a new prescription for glasses and do not have confidence that the visit will give me the prescription I need. And I left feeling like they were annoyed with me and my follow up questions annoyed them. If you have other options, it may be worth exploring them before choosing this practice.
