Patient care requires thorough evaluation, clinical diligence, and a clear commitment to accurate diagnosis. Repeatedly failing to identify or address ongoing symptoms—particularly when a patient is experiencing significant pain or a potential infection—is unacceptable. If there is uncertainty, it must be communicated and followed by appropriate next steps.
My mother is a long-term patient who was seen multiple times within a two-month period for the same unresolved issue. Despite repeated visits and worsening symptoms, her condition was not properly diagnosed, and no effective treatment plan was established. At the most recent visit, the response remained limited and did not reflect an adequate level of clinical assessment or progression in care.
I was also seen at the practice and had a cyst removed. The physician’s approach during my appointment was nonchalant and lacked professional thoroughness. I was asked only whether I wanted it removed, and upon confirming, the procedure was performed without additional guidance or discussion. This reflects a concerning lack of attention to patient care standards and informed decision-making.
In contrast, a same-day appointment with another dermatologist resulted in a prompt diagnosis and immediate initiation of appropriate treatment. This demonstrates a clear and measurable gap in the quality of care provided by the practice.
While the front desk staff and nursing team were professional and efficient, the physician’s conduct does not meet expected standards of patient care.
This feedback should be taken seriously and addressed in accordance with professional and regulatory standards. Patients presenting with persistent or escalating symptoms require timely, thorough, and effective medical evaluation and management. If you read all this, just go to another dermatologist.

Dr Matthew Katz and staff are the best! Professional and friendly. I've been going to the practice for years and still make the 50 minute trip from Annapolis regularly.

Absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional.
I called to make an appointment for my son at this location, which is ironic because this is actually MY dermatologist’s office and I was planning to bring my son here as well. The woman who answered the phone was extremely rude from the start.
She first scheduled an appointment for the next day and said everything was confirmed. Minutes later, she called back saying the appointment couldn’t be honored because it was booked with a medical assistant something like that and my son “needed to see a doctor.”
When I asked what days the doctor was available, she snapped at me and said, “Are you going to let me do my job or not?” in an aggressive tone. When I repeated what she had just told me about the doctors schedule, she raised her voice and told me to “let her check the schedule first” as if I was bothering her for asking basic questions about my child’s care.
today , when I called to cancel the appointment, she said she canceled it. One minute later she called back claiming there was never an appointment, even though I received a confirmation text message and have proof.
She then had the nerve to say, “You are not a patient here, you have never been to this location,” which is completely false. This is literally my dermatologist’s office.
This woman is completely unprofessional and has no business working the front desk of a medical office. If you cannot speak respectfully to parents and patients, you should not be working in healthcare. Front desk staff represent the entire practice, and hers will cost this office customers. This employee should not be working in a patient-facing role. Her behavior is inappropriate for a medical office and reflects poorly on the entire practice.

I came in for a visit with nurse Toohey for finger that is itchy and flaky. My entire visit was barely 5 minutes. Not that I needed a long visit, but she really needs to improve on her bedside manners. She looked at my finger and barely wanted to touch or examine it. Will not be returning to this office.
