This place is the absolute worst hospital.. they are very unprofessional uncaring, and leave you in the waiting area for hours. I arrived at the hospital for emergency my grandson cut his finger with deep lacerations. We arrived at the hospital at 10:00pm at night he wasn’t called until 3:26am before he was called to the back to see a doctor. We still waiting..now it’s after 3:45pm and he got a couple of stitches and we didn’t leave this place until after 4:15 pm this is ridiculous so if you live any the are don’t come to this place run fast as you can…

So much is done in the waiting room out in the open now. Yikes! I heard all kinds of things about a lady’s neck injury, watched people get their bp taken. Brought a family member in and they gave pain meds and a wheel chair, but it seems dangerous when they had to go in the public bathroom all woozy alone. Not even a companion/private bathroom, yet people are rolling through the waiting room with IV poles. Seems like it was a little better when people in pain could lay on a stetcher or have access to a safer bathroom while on meds. They did take blood and urine within 4 hours, but it takes an eternity for testing or any updates from a medical professional. Visit took over 8 hours.

This experience was from roughly 3 years ago, but I still think about it alot to this day. I self admitted for a seizure aura, at the time was undiagnosed temporal lobe epilepsy, I waited in the lobby for 8 hours. Upon being called back I was told to be admitted I was required to have an IV placed. I have ptsd and a strong medical procedure phobia, I explained this, they lied and said I could only be admitted if I had the IV placed. I have flashbacks from that stupid IV being placed years later. If I had already waited in the lobby for 8 hours and not seized the reasoning of what if I do in the brief stay was BS as the requirement for the IV. You guys made my life measurably worse and I genuinely resent you for it and despise you as well. Edit: The "please contact us" messages these places leave are not because they care, it's to prevent the bad reviews from messing with their good reviews, its manipulative. It's shows a distinct lack of actual concern. If I wanted to talk to your patient advocates I would have but you already did the damage, nothing left to be said, just a bad review.

Our experience giving birth here was great overall. We planned to go to AAMC but they were beyond capacity and their vibes were pretty off too. No place is perfect- hospitals are understaffed and staff cope in varying ways. L&D was exceptionally loud at all times of day/night with nurse talk right outside the door, but at least they were having fun and responsive. We had excellent care and were grateful for the caring nurses, particularly Gee and Anna in mother/baby. Christine in L&D was also phenomenal, as well as Dr Malcolm Stennet, an anesthesiologist. They all truly cared about our child's wellbeing and went above and beyond. Gina with lactation was exceptional. It was our first baby and unfortunately I lost my cool one night under distress after an offhanded comment from one nurse and rushed bedside manner, but in hindsight I don't think there was ill-intent. One upside is the food service, I actually thought the food was quite good for a hospital, get the Chef special. Also the bean rush cafe downstairs is a big upside. Transport for discharge was awfully slow, but again, you have to consider the context of understaffing in a world of difficult times. The elevators leave some to be desired for those who can't take the stairs. The rooms are significantly larger than at AAMC. Thank you BWMC staff for your care!

My father had ongoing complications from liver cirrhosis. At this hospital, his care felt superficial and inadequate, addressing symptoms rather than the seriousness of his condition. Not only did they only address symptoms, they also left him without care for MULTIPLE hours. While on the toilet alone as a fall risk patient. When he was transferred to the university hospital in the city, his condition initially improved, which highlighted the difference in care. Unfortunately, his condition later worsened and he was transported to BWMC via ambulance. During this time, I was forced to make an end-of-life decision based on incorrect information. I was told my father had been without a pulse for 60 minutes, when in reality it was approximately 16 minutes. Although my father ultimately did not survive his illness, the misinformation and lack of competence during such a critical moment is something I will never forget. I do not recommend this hospital to anyone that has a choice.
