After moving across the country to California, I discovered there were no Gold’s Gym locations anywhere near me. Naturally, I called to cancel my membership. I was told that cancellations could not be done over the phone and that I would need to come in person to cancel, despite the fact that I now live over 6.5 hours away by plane. When I explained my situation, the representative I spoke with was extremely rude, dismissive, and completely unwilling to help. Despite multiple attempts to resolve this issue, I was continuously stonewalled by their staff and provided no reasonable solution. To make matters worse, my account was sent to collections for a mere $20/month membership, and my credit score has suffered as a result, all because Gold’s Gym refused to provide any legitimate way to cancel my membership remotely. It’s clear from reading other reviews that this isn’t an isolated incident, it’s a pattern of unethical and predatory business practices. . Do yourself a favor and choose ANY other gym except Gold’s Gym. Gold’s Gym has proven to be dishonest, unhelpful, and completely indifferent to their customers once they have your payment information.
