Been going to this gym for years now and I have nothing to really complain about except the hours. It still boggles my mind how other locations such as north Frederick can close at 9 pm on Sundays but not here. If it were to be one thing I’d change is the hours.

I currently go to this gym, and while renovations appear to be happening upstairs, the cleanliness in the restrooms, saunas, and steam rooms is extremely poor. The cleaning staff seem to only pick up visible trash but do not actually clean the restroom stalls, floors, or other surfaces. I understand the gym gets a lot of traffic, but that simply means the facilities need to be cleaned more frequently at least two or three times throughout the day (for example around noon, mid-afternoon, and again in the evening). Hygiene in areas like saunas and steam rooms should be a top priority. If that means hiring more staff, bringing in younger employees with the energy to keep up with the workload, raising wages, or holding the cleaning service to a higher standard, then management should seriously consider it. Members are paying for a clean and well-maintained facility. Additionally, several treadmills have been out of service for over a month, which is disappointing for a gym of this size. Hopefully management addresses both the cleanliness and maintenance issues soon.

I’ve been a loyal member of this gym since 2008, but the current management at the Germantown location has made it a hostile environment. Recently, a staff member threw away my personal property (a probiotic drink) while I was mid-workout. When I tried to calmly discuss the policy with the Assistant General Manager, Patrick R., I was met with extreme aggression. Instead of an apology, Patrick was dismissive, told me not to give staff a "hard time," and actually threatened to cancel my membership because I questioned why my belongings were handled. This is the second time he has used membership cancellation as a threat to shut down a valid conversation. It is incredibly disappointing to see a long-term member treated with such hostility. If you value being treated with basic respect, avoid this location until they address the unprofessionalism of their management team.

The problem I have with this gym is the overall poor maintenance and stinginess with the water pressure. Too many broken machines, water stains in the ceiling in the women’s locker room ( very gross and distasteful ), small trash bins in the women’s bathroom that overflow with trash all over the floor. Common sense should tell them they need a 50 gallon or larger trash bin in a bathroom that serves the entire gym. Not sure if they have weekend cleaning of the bathrooms but it was disgustingly dirty yesterday. Water pressure in the shower and sink area is painfully low. Hard to enjoy showers or even wash hands. They may think they are saving money but that only forces people to take longer showers and use more water anyway while not really enjoying the experience. They charge more for towel services but their towels almost always have stains or hair on them- Gross. Also the gym tends to smell of marijuana some evenings- Very offensive. All my life going to gyms across the country, I have never experienced such. I really regretted signing a whole year contract at this gym.😭 Overall, I think this gym has the potential to do better. Current maintenance management is just not capable. They desperately need a more effective maintenance management that understands what “ Cleanliness “ of a gym requires. They are soon to begin renovation that will cost over $3M, I suggest they allocate some of that money towards maintenance and cleanliness of the gym because Renovating a gym with disgusting and dirty areas is bad budgeting.
