Love the staff and selection of frames. Important to clear your calendar. The wait is very long to be seen for an eye exam.

Great, thorough, & professional care every single visit. The staff is knowledgeable & caring. Charlie took time to assist one family member with learning about contacts-he is always encouraging & cheerful. On another visit, Lee explained every step of the appointment process. Dr. King really takes the time to explain all issues, offer advice & treatment options, and answer all questions in a thoughtful & relatable manner. A truly professional & well run office.

I first went here back in 2018 I believe. Back again last month for an overdue check up. Lee was the tech who did my exams and he was just wonderful. He gave clear instructions on each test, explained why we each test. He was efficient and kind! I was then able to speak with Dr. King (virtually, which was so cool). She pulled up all my tests, explained everything in detail. I felt like I actually learned more about my eyeballs! Excellent practice from scheduling, the receptionists, the techs and providers. So glad to be back with this group for my yearly check ups!
Frequently Asked Questions About Bay Family Eye Care
Why Should I Schedule Regular Eye Exams?
Eye exams play two crucial roles in our lives.
For starters, eye exams can determine if you need glasses, or if you need an updated glasses prescription. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, about 11 million Americans over age 12 need vision correction aids.
Additionally, regular eye exams play an important part in preserving your vision in the event of illness. Many eye diseases develop without noticeable symptoms at first; and by the time symptoms develop that patients can notice, the diseases are often very advanced, making treatment much more difficult.
A comprehensive dilated eye exam by an optometrist or ophthalmologist is necessary to find eye diseases in their early stages, when treatment to prevent vision loss is most effective.
What Should I Expect During an Eye Exam and Consultation at Bay Family Eye Care?
During an eye exam, our technicians will ask you questions about the following:
any symptoms or issues you are experiencing
medications you are currently taking
any blurry vision issues you’re having
your work environment
your overall health
Family history and previous eye or vision conditions will also be discussed during this part of the examination. Our doctors will consider this information when determining any treatments or recommendations.
What Should I Expect During Vision Testing at Bay Family Eye Care?
During vision testing, our optometrists provide a standard vision acuity test as part of a comprehensive eye exam. During this test, our doctors will measure how each eye is seeing by using a wall eye chart and a reading eye chart. The results of these tests are portrayed as a fraction, with 20/20 being the standard for normal distance and reading vision. Depending on the results of your vision test, our doctors may prescribe corrective glasses, contacts, or eye exercises.
Our team will also evaluate the health of your eyes overall during your exam. Our doctors evaluate the eye health by visually inspecting the eye and eyelids using magnification and a bright light. To examine the internal structures of the eye, we dilate the pupils. Increased eye pressure may be an indicator of glaucoma, so we utilize tonometry to measure eye pressure. After completing these short tests, our doctors review the results and discuss the treatment options with you.
What Additional Vision Testing is Available at Bay Family Eye Care?
In addition to vision testing, an eye exam in our office includes testing focused on eye functionality. Our technicians perform several tests to evaluate depth perception, color vision, eye muscle capabilities, peripheral vision, and responsiveness to light. Several other simple tests are completed to determine whether the eyes are focusing, moving, and working together properly. The test results enable our doctors to diagnose any underlying conditions that may be impairing the eyes ability to focus or work together.
