  We used Home Instead for my in-laws at their home. We used them for the weekend day shift from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for about 5 years. They were always there when they were supposed to be. We recently cancelled because my mother-in-law went into Candle Light Cove. All of the sitters were prompt and pleasant. If a regular sitter was sick or on vacation, they always found a substitute. We used a competitor for a while until they just forgot to send someone one weekend. We never had that problem with Home Instead and they would often send a new sitter out the day before to check the routine if a substitute was called for. I have referred them to friends.

  Ditto to the other reviews. Mom has been a challenge for me and the caregivers! Having "strange" people in her home has been an adaptive process. The folks who come understand that and still treat Mom with respect, despite her "commentary". We have had to adapt/change gears/ stop and start because of Mom's changes. I say " we", because we are a team....myself and those who come and go from Mom's home. Just today I asked for another shift of coverage and it happened that day! Those of us caring for someone we love who is losing their sense of self and reality is tough!! The folks who are helping Mom are helping me, too, and it has not gone unappreciated. Thank you Eva, Sandy, Mita, D'Angela, Jane, Terry, and others who are so supportive. Many of you I haven't met, or don't remember your names....but I am ever grateful for you and your talents. It takes a village to raise a child, so it is said. It takes a village of another kind to care for aging loved ones. Kudos, Home Instead. You understand. Thank you.

  Outstanding company. We used another service for a week before my mom had to be hospitalized for three weeks. I contacted Home Instead on recommendation from my mothers physician; when we realized the care needed to be more hands on and experienced. Jane Bateman/Home Instead was professional and compassionate; but at the same time very clear about the business model. She met me and two of my siblings at my moms home within a day of my inquiry and provided a very thorough explanation of care. Further we called less than 24 hours ahead of my mom being released from University of MD hospital; they had staff immediately. An online calendar was provided to any family member through the website and constant interaction with lead staff if questions arose. Caregivers were amazing. Everyone who came to mom's home is a credit to their profession. I cannot express enough how much we appreciated Home Instead. I would recommend them to anyone in need of care for a loved one.
