My experience at this location is a testament to a broken healthcare system. I am 49 and legally blind due to late onset diabetes. My mother and I went to a pre-op appointment so that I could be cleared for cataracts surgery to regain most of my vision. We arrived and completed some additional paperwork before I was seen by the nurse to take my vitals. While taking my vitals and going over my medical history, I started to feel judged due to the fact that I had not taken my insulin and other medication. I tried to explain the reasons for this being somewhat out of my control because my previous doctor did not prescribe refills for any of my medications and indicated that I was no longer under his care (this was a complicated issue due to nonpayment because I have no insurance and I am not currently working due to my vision issues). The goal of this visit was to get cleared for surgery. My vitals showed that my blood pressure was extremely high and my glucose levels were elevated to around 400. If I could not get cleared by the doctor (which is understandable given my vitals) than I could at least get the medication I need to control my blood sugar and severe hypertension. When I was seen by the doctor (Price MP), she only gave me a referral to the ER. I explained that I had already been to the hospital previously last year and was diagnosed with diabetes and hypertension. I pleaded with her to at least prescribe insulin and other diabetic medication that was on my chart so I could start taking my medication regularly. I expressed that due to my vision loss, the quality of my life has declined so severely that I am quickly losing what little strength I have left to continue dealing with what feels like an insurmountable challenge. The doctor refused to prescribe anything -- not even insulin. I was trained on how to self-administer insulin and how to slowly bring my glucose levels down when I haven't used insulin for awhile. One needs to do this for two primary reasons -- osmotic pressure stabilization and avoiding false hypoglycemic reactions when the brain / body have adjusted to higher levels of insulin. She would not prescribe anything to help me. I was barely seen for 5 minutes. The nurse than came back and basically yelled at my mother and me and made us both feel horrible. I have very little money left and almost all of that needs to go towards my surgery. It feels like many people in the medical community do not understand how broken our system is when a patient does not have insurance due to unemployment. We left with nothing to show for the $150 this organization took from us just to receive a referral for the ER. The nurse chastised us for things outside our control due to severe financial circumstances. I feel as though a doctor withholding insulin from a diabetic constitutes medical malpractice. Since we don't have much money, I will need to figure out a way to obtain insulin via another method. We just paid $150 into a broken medical system. I wish some doctors would be more compassionate and understanding towards those stuck in limbo because of how health insurance is intertwined with employment.

This place is advertised as a walk in clinic, but it is not. One provider I saw had such a thick accent that I couldn't understand her. One of the receptionists I meet was great, but the other had a very nasty attitude with me. Their lab is extremely slow, and though a follow up call was warranted with my circumstances, I didn't receive one. There are no real doctors on staff, only nurse practitioners from what I can tell. Once you're in, it is very easy to book an appointment, and I can see this being a great place to go if you just have the flu or something. I was told I had to go to the ER to diagnose something that I know can be easily caught by running the right blood work. I am on Medicaid right now, which they recently started working with - they told me I can't come there unless I change my PCP to one of their doctors. Given my experience, I think I'd rather drive a half hour to my current PCP and have to wait for appointments.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Exceptional care from Dr. Jacquelyn LaFon I’m elderly and recently saw Dr. Jacquelyn LaFon because I was feeling lightheaded, weak, and close to fainting. From the moment she walked in, she was caring, compassionate, and incredibly thorough. Dr. LaFon listened closely to every concern I had, asked thoughtful questions, reviewed all of my medications carefully, and performed a complete exam. She didn’t rush me — she made me feel heard and truly cared for. By the time I left, I honestly felt better—not just physically, but emotionally—because of her knowledge, calm reassurance, and clear, affirming instructions. In my opinion, she may be one of the best physicians in Howard County. Highly recommend.
