- JBJody BakerJan 28, 20261.0I can't say enough bad things about Gilchrist Hospice. It took almost a week before we had a nurse or aide reach out to us after her intake. Luckily, we had private aides coming in to assist us in taking care of our mom at home. Our biggest issue was when the time we needed her most, when she passed, THEY REFUSED TO COME OUT AND CALL HER PASSING. It was a few hours after we got a lot of snow, and the nurse told us they wouldn't come out and we would get a call back from a physician. Never got a call back. The funeral home pick up attendants were the only people that showed up. They didn't even call ems to come call her death. We still aren't sure who called it, or signed the death certificate. It took 3 days for ANYONE from Gilchrist to contact us (a social worker, not even a medical professional). They are a travesty. People are in an extreme emotional state at that time, and they let us all down. They left us unsure what do for 3 hours sitting here not sure if someone was coming, which they didn't.
