I took my elderly lady friend to her appointment for an annual hearing test and to have one of her hearing aids repaired. The staff person came into the waiting room and looked down at us and said her hearing aid was obsolete and couldn’t be repaired. He said she could get a trade in value of $2000 toward a new set and would have to pay $6000 for the new set. He further stated that all miracle ear hearing aids all have a lifespan of 3 to 4.5 years . I told the lady not to do anything and we could talk about it in the car. I then asked if he would do her hearing test in the event that she decides to buy new hearing aids. He said he could but it wasn’t necessary because he already knew what her hearing would be since she always loses 10 db each time . We left, and then went to my own hearing aid appointment at a starkey vendor . I told my provider what transpired at miracle ear hearing. She looked at the broken hearing aid and said it was just the wire and that starkey could certainly repair it. She also said that the cost for a comparable set from starkey would be $3800. Furthermore, knowing that she would have lost another 10 db is totally incorrect. I personally get a test annually. They test at 24 different frequencies. No one would ever lose 10 db overall, they are more likely to lose in some of the 24 bands but not all. BEWARE OF THIS STORE AND THEIR TREATMENT OF THE ELDERLY
