First, the care and compassion I heard over the phone for the situation I was facing made me feel immediately that I'd made the right call. Even though I'm sure they hear my story every day, they made me feel like my situation was their focus and they immediately moved quickly to get the help we needed. Each team member, from the scheduling to the administrative pieces and especially to the wonderful caring people who sat with my dad when I couldn't be there couldn't have been better. It made a very difficult situation so much less stressful. I am very grateful for the care and attention showed to my family just when we needed it.
- EHErik HMar 10, 20221.0I signed up with this company originally for 24 hour service for my bed bound father. They made many promises but could not deliver on most of them. They sent inexperienced care givers that couldn't even do simple tasks like food preparation. I had overnight caregivers who would sleep on the job. I had caregivers who could not be left alone with my father or caregivers who were very unreliable and would call out often. Despite all my concerns that I repeated addressed with the office all I got was flimsy excuses and they even tried to make me feel like I was the problem. When they charge you over $30 an hour I think I should have certain expectations. When we were fortunate to have a caregiver that was good it did not last as they would pull that caregiver to fill shifts elsewhere. When we protested they told us they would essentially do as they pleased. The needs of my father were no concern to them. When I asked to speak to the owner I was denied. The office apparently likes to keep things secret and does not like to inform the family either of any decisions. I cannot say anything positive or redeeming about Home Instead. I would never, ever recommend them to anyone and if I could give them zero stars I certainly would. In response to the "owner" whom I was never actually allowed to speak to. I only spoke to the general manger who was rude, condescending and basically didn't want to hear any of our concerns. What I needed was 24 hour care for my elderly father and had a hard time finding it and I couldn't abruptly end services. I did get a second company and dialed back hours with Home Instead four months in with them. I had to get a second company because Home Instead couldn't always fill shifts even though they promised 24 hour care up front. I kept cutting back as they couldn't even fill 3 or 4 shifts. I cut back still until I only had one overnight shift. I kept that shift because the caregiver was amazing and my Dad loved her. It's too bad as there were a few excellent caregivers who I'm sure were not treated well by this company. I hope those caregivers know this review does not reflect on them.
