I saw Dr. Pedro Barada who was fantastic. Also Dr. Alton Sauter who is also fantastic although he is now leaving and moving out of state and now I have to find a new oncologist..

Another medical group at Tulane referred me to Dr. Pointer to discuss a genetic mutation that increases the risk of cancer. He listened attentively, and when he didn't know the answer to my questions, he said he didn't know and that would do more research. I told him that I had often felt dismissed by physicians, even though I had serious medical issues, and he was appropriately sympathetic.
Even though it was unrelated to the subject of my appointment, I mentioned to Dr. Pointer the painful issue I'd been having with my shoulder -- probably nerve compression -- and my frustrating experience with a local orthopedic surgeon. He said he would refer me to a new orthopedic surgeon, and that surgeon's office called me to schedule an appointment within a couple of days!

Cancer is a very tough thing to deal with, but the people here do everything they can to make it easier. The doctors, nurses and support staff are all amazing.

Saw Dr Saba in lymphoma department, we saw him once then his NP the rest of the time. This facility has no idea what is going on. Was there for recurring lymphoma, it took at least 3 phone calls over 3 days to get testing and appointments scheduled. They did not get proper authorizations, costing me money and time. I would not recommend taking my dog there much less a person. Now at MD Anderson and this place is fabulous!!!! Hope this helps someone else make a life changing decision!
