The er and cardiac unit and floor Drs and nurses were expedient, kind, knowledgeable, caring, thorough, answered all my concerns the best they could and very empathetic. If needed, I'd go right back to WJGH for all my needs!!

I am writing to report a very serious concern regarding my recent experience with your office staff. When I called to schedule an appointment, I spoke with an employee named Mandy, who was extremely rude and unprofessional. She refused to allow me to speak with a manager despite my request about an urgent medical issue related to my multiple sclerosis.
Additionally, I was informed that Dr. Khoobehi would not see me because your office is not accepting Medicaid patients. I was referred to this neurologist by my doctor, and I was not given a clear or valid explanation for being denied care.
This situation is very concerning, as I am seeking care for a serious medical condition and feel that I was treated unfairly and without compassion. Thank you Mandy
So far, for 1, calling this place is pointless. No one will answer so if you have questions for or about the ER, even if you're not from here, you will get hung up on unless you're a provider or related to a patient. Second, unless you have an ID, you can't be in the hospital. I just brought someone in agonizing pain from kidney stones and while they're wheeling him back there, security is telling me I have to wait outside. I left my ID at home, because it was an emergency. We flew through red lights, stop signs and drove here with flashers on, I was lucky I even had clothes on since I'd just showered. So, as I sit here waiting on him, and he's upset I couldn't be in there, as of right now, Im not impressed. Plus, theres a ton of trash all over the parking lot. C'mon yall. Be considerate and dont leave your damn trash everywhere. Smh..

Once I got to the back in the emergency room it was smooth sailing. The doctors and nurses were extremely helpful and understanding. My nurse Timothy has a great sense of humor and all around a nice guy. All around the best experience I’ve had here.

Hello. I hope whoever is reading this that this review finds you well.
So, I came in yesterday. I was very dehydrated. I wasn’t given any pain medicine or administered an IV even after communicating with the Dr. what I needed as I’ve been in this same situation in the past. My history shows my visits as well as my treatment plan while there. I was suffering in pain to the point where the pain was unbearable. This isn’t like me, I knew something was wrong with my body.
The staff is so unprofessional. I let them know what was going on with me and the staff member just said “if you’re hurting laying down then sit up” they didn’t get the Dr. (or one of them) like I asked so I can speak with them and even he (Michael) was horrible. He dismissed many of my concerns. He told me my labs were fine and I could clearly see in my mychart for LCMC that they were not. He kept advising me to reach out to my PCP but how can I get fluids from them ? They would tell me go to the ER as they have before in the past.
The same issues I had been diagnosed with (at Ochsner), I’ve suffered issues of the same thing in the past, seemingly increasing each time I come. Real Dehydrated as well. All that information is in my chart and he didn’t even take the time to look.
Unacceptable!!
I sat in that hospital for over 4 hours and didn’t receive any treatment to help subside the pain temporarily or anything. I left . I Didn’t even receive discharge papers because I needed help in that very moment. No one, I mean no one cared 💔.
I then went to Ochsner ER and within 2 hours I was being administered IV and medication and the wait times there were high as well. The staff treated me with respect regardless of my age. Young people can have health issues too.
Some of us just come in when we need a little more help than what we can receive at home or over the counter.
I gave them a lot of grace and respect, over 4 hours worth only to be disrespected and treated poorly because I was “Too young to be experiencing all that”. Medical gaslighting (look that word up if you don’t know what it means. It’s good to educate yourself in these situations) is real..
When seen by an Ochsner PA even though she was busy she came to check on me a few times to answer any questions I had and to make sure I was alright. I want to repeat that the wait times were high as well there too. You can tell when something is truly wrong with someone and when they’re faking. She could tell I wasn’t doing to well and immediately went into action. I’m so grateful God lead me elsewhere and to people who still have compassion in their heart for others.
Another thing I’d like to point out. I am of African American background, I noticed the concerns of the other race were taken more seriously no matter how small. They were also seen and discharged before I decided to discharge myself.
I’d like to come in and speak face to face with a supervisor, if I may, to address these concerns. They need to be taken seriously. Please give me a direct line to contact to schedule this meeting.
I also advise that no matter the color you are. Don’t go in to any hospital by yourself. If you can bring someone please do. They tend to care even less when you’re by yourself. There’s no witness that anything happened other than your word. It’s sad. Sickness is something that doesn’t exclude any of us and what’s done to someone else is sure to come find you when it’s your turn.
All this to say, if you can avoid coming here please do . I wouldn’t recommend this place. I’m not even the type to leave reviews unless I feel led. I had to share. I hope my experience can help someone else not be a victim of both discrimination and disregard from West Jefferson Emergency Department.
Your voice, Your health, and YOU matter. Don’t stop advocating for yourself until someone listens. Go where you’re accepted, not barely tolerated. Thank God someone helped me, things may have went differently had they not. I live to tell my story. I’m grateful and blessed.
