I thought I had found a place where I could finally get my teeth fixed, but due to the unwelcoming nature from the nurses and staff, I will not be getting anymore work done here. Im freshly 18, and have been in Louisiana for the past year. I was in a very toxic environment beforehand and growing up, the last thing I cared about was how my teeth looked. Now that im older I realized the importance of it, so I started coming to oak park dental. They told me that the first priority was my wisdom teeth, so i got that done in November or October. I had my first appointment back for a cleaning, and they decided to schedule me to clear my cavities. The first nurse, Mrs. Brittany repeatedly told me how “bad my teeth looked” and that “im too pretty for my teeth to be that bad.” I understood the first few times, as she is in that field and I am not, she knows more but it got to the point where it seemed liked she was berating me instead of informing me. I tried to explain that my childhood was an uncommon one, and she just kept telling me how bad my teeth looked/are. I also informed her that both sides of my family have problems with weak enamel, and she says “its not hereditary, its bacterial.” When one of the surgeons came in, i cant remember her name, she was flossing my teeth and goes “i can tell you dont floss” and i wanted to puke right there. I do floss, maybe not as much as I should but I do floss. I used to have braces, had them for about three years. When I had gotten them off, they placed a permanent retainer on the bottom row of my teeth connecting my k9’s, it is quite hard to floss behind that area, as it does hurt when pulled on. Mrs. Brittany, at the beginning of my appointment also proceeded to ask me to go to google, look up oak park dental, and write a five star review for them. I was going to do it, since the times before were okay and they were usually pretty nice, but after my experience today I decided I wanted to do an honest one because I know insecurities just like the next person, and it is an awful feeling constantly having that insecurity thrown at you by the people who are supposed to make you feel comfortable in their office. I believe they do have good workers, but Mrs, Brittany just simply wasn't one of them today,

My daughter had an appointment and was discriminated for her warts on her arm. She goes to school and have not had an issue before. Even if was "contagious" I feel they could've just wiped down and sanitized her spot afterwards. The staff declined to do any work on her. Then later called and left a voicemail saying we failed the appointment and was going to be reported to insurance. We will be going to a different dentist from now on.
