Things I’ve learned By Jay

If I could give a 0 I would… they keep changing doctors often and have to wait like 3 months to meet new one. I’ve been going to that practice for like 10-15 years and most doctors have been great. My last doctor was Dr. Walker and he was amazing. Before that it was Dr O and she was also great. They ordered preventive labs yearly on my physical.. the new doctor (Whitmore) they have now is terrible imo. He doesn’t want to and refuses to order basic labs because he thinks I’m healthy enough or he doesn’t think they are needed or just to feel in authority. I’ve explained past doctors have always ordered all preventive labs and reasons why (age, supplements etc) but he still refuses. I even put a complaint and was told he basically won’t change his mind. I requested their director call me. Never heard back. I’m switching after 10-15 years there with multiple doctors who all cared, listened and partnered with me for my preventive care.

I'm not sure why I received a request to leave a review. I haven't been to this facility in months. Dr. Walker was my primary care doctor and he was the best doctor I'd had in many years, but he moved out of state. I was not happy with the care I received after he left, and have switched to U of L. Dr. Tata-Oyekan seemed very smart and capable. I was impressed and liked her very much in person on that first visit. But she didn't seem to want to do anything or offer much information. I always had to see a specialist. And she rarely answered her own messages. I would get these messages that didn't even seem to be referring to me. "Per Dr. Tata-Oyekan, she can do..." whatever. "She" as if we were talking about someone besides me. It annoyed me every time. And that's if I could even get an actual answer beyond, "we can talk about that on your next visit." Maybe I was spoiled by Dr. Walker. He was informative and offered me options. We discussed my treatment as if he respected my opinion. You don't get that just everywhere. Maybe he just worked too much. I'd get messages from him at 9:30 at night! He was at the ICC at least once a week. I jokingly referred to it as his overflow office because I'd hear people in the waiting room talking about him, so obviously they came for him. As did I, usually. He was the only doctor I had actually talked to on the phone in 30 years. Hard act to follow. Really miss him.
Having said all that though, I always liked the Middletown facility. Staff was always nice and the office was easy to get to. Park in front, walk in, it's right there. Clean facility, nice people. And I'm sure the doctors there are as good as any others. Dr. Walker actually recommended the other doctor there. I think his name was Whitaker. But there was a medication I needed before he had an opening. And you can't usually change doctors within a given practice.
