  I started going to Weiscoff Child Evaluation Center as a adult, around 25yrs old.(I'm a big kid now) I found out that I don't just have epilepsy (at 18month old) and a host of other things. But I also have to add mitochondrial myopathy to the list. Thanks to these good doctors, I found out why I was having all of my medical problems especially now that I'm nearly 60.

  We waited nearly a year for our initial appointment and drove an hour to get there. The day of our first appointment, we arrived early, checked in, and waited for well over an hour. As it turns out, they checked in the wrong child. We were treated rudely (as if was our fault that someone else checked in the wrong patient) and the actual visit felt rushed. We decided to go back for a second appointment and the evaluation, hoping it was just a big mistake, but I still left feeling like our concerns were mostly dismissed. We were scheduled for a one year follow-up. Yesterday, while at the neurologist, I told her about our upcoming appointment and she proceeded to tell me that MyChart didn't have that appointment listed. Low and behold, they gave me an appointment card with the date and time of the appointment but did not actually schedule the appointment. They had the audacity to ask if I was mistaken and that I should have scheduled a follow-up appointment, so I'm attaching the appointment card they gave us in the attached photos that shows it should have been scheduled.

  We were not given any heads up on what to expect. They asked me for our whole family history on the spot when they should have put that in the paperwork. I felt extremely crowded with 3 doctors in the room with me and my 2 kids. After a million questions that I couldn't answer because I wasn't prepared, they told me they would see if my insurance would cover testing and get back to me. As someone who has never dealt with genetic testing before, it would have been extremely helpful to have at least some indication what was expected of us. My son was the one going to be tested. We never went back after the initial appointment.
