  Was told today that I need to drink a gallon of water before I come to donate!?!? "Grading" the vein prior to moving forward is just another way of saying we have little faith in the ability of our staff to find a vein and successfully pull from it. I've donated off and on for over 15 years never has a vein been an issue. For as much as they go on about this being a life-saving donation, they sure do come up with a lot of excuses not to take donations . Finally, it might be a good idea to standardize what you tell people on the phone to ensure that you're not leaving anything out. I called twice on two separate days to specifically double check that I would have none of these types of issues. Drinking a gallon of water, as laughable as that is, was never mentioned. Regardless of the state of a person's vein "grade" hydration at the very least could have been mentioned. Wasting people's time, and gas, and then blaming it on the donors quality of vein instead of saying, "we're not confident we could successfully draw from you" is gross and inconsiderate to the people who have come to literally open a vein for you. It's a shame that even donating at this point has devolved into this hyper-commercialized, patient-blaming, lack-of-accountability, machine that needs "green" veins and probably pays so terribly that the worker can't even handle making sure the donor is fully equipped with the information they need to not wast their time and energy for nothing. Just saying, huge opportunity there to do better.

  I've donated several times, never had a bad experience until 2 weeks ago. I am still giving 4 stars because the people are nice , and friendly.
