The receptionist, Betina, berated my sweet husband over an insurance mistake. He was so sad that he left a 1 star google review which mentioned her by name. I tried telling him the dentists are great, but we've never been able to discuss this with them. My husband made an appointment for a dental emergency and I guess Betina read his old review because she cancelled it and told him he was permanently dismissed as a patient. When my husband asked to speak to his dentist to figure out what was going on and what to do for his cracked tooth, Betina said Dr. Krische didn't want to talk to him and left him in pain and unable to eat. To cover her tracks, she had another receptionist (Taylor) pretend to be a patient and write a google review about how Betina had to handle a disturbed man in the office that was making people uncomfortable. I have no idea if the dentist even knows what happened- I would like to assume he wouldn't abandon a patient in pain because of valid critical feedback about the receptionist, but I've lost all trust in this practice because of how my husband was treated.

Let me preface by saying I have not received this substandard level of care and compassion from any healthcare provider in my entire life. About 6 months ago I went in for a cleaning and was snatched out of the chair and told that my insurance was invalid. I was told I need to pay in cash for this appointment and when I said that I wouldn't pay for a service that is free through my insurance, the office manager Betina, raised her voice got a serious attitude and further embarrassed me by stating that the appointment already started and there was nothing that could be done for me. The extremely pleasant hygienist told her the appointment hadn't started, and at that moment I was begrudgingly allowed to leave without services rendered or even being asked if I wanted to reschedule. As this was a shock to me, I came home and wrote a review of what happened to me without any ounce of exaggeration or hearsay. Fast forward 6 months later, my wife who still went to this dentist told me that she thought that the lady who was rude to me didn't work there anymore and that she would make me a new appointment. I said great. Keep in mind that no one ever reached out to me in the 6 months following my review to ask about my experience. Very weird in itself. I went in to my new appointment last Friday and told the hygienist that my crown wasn't bothering me but it seems to have a hairline crack that I could feel with my tongue. She did not say let my have the dentist look at this before we start with the cleaning. Instead she started the cleaning and my crown was broken in half during the cleaning. It didn't hurt in that moment so I wanted to take some time to figure out what was the best course of action to get my crown replaced. I wasn't asked if I wanted it fixed then or if I wanted an appointment to fix it in a couple days. Over the weekend, my crowned tooth started hurting immensely. I called Monday morning to get a new appointment for replacement and was given a time for 3pm on Wednesday. Great its all taken care of, or so I thought. I get a call ONE hour later saying the dr will provide a varnish but will not replace your crown. I was told the Doctor read your review and doesn't want to extend his services to you anymore. This is 6 months after my initial review, pretty gnarly timing considering im sitting here with a cracked crown and in immeasurable pain. The kicker to the whole story is that yesterday morning at 6am I deleted my initial review after telling myself it isn't the right thing to do, to go to a provider and also have something negative to say about them. I am not that type of person. So not only has the doctor actively participated in patient abandonment but never once asked to discuss my review with me. Just a tip for the future, anytime someone has a unpleasant experience it would be best to ask them what happened. This way you can determine if this is a disgruntled person or someone with a legitimate claim that you should look into. Instead the course of action this dentist took was to dismiss me as a patient 6 months after my review, in my darkest hour, while Im experiencing extreme pain and need the services badly. I couldn't even sleep with the knowledge of how poorly I was treated. I went in this morning to speak with the dentist himself to maybe clear up any misconceptions about the situation and was turned away and told the dentist wont speak with me. If this is the type of treatment you want then come here. I will end my extremely long rant with this disclaimer. Anyone who reads this and is thinking about going here for dental work please take heed to the following. If you want the least compassionate, snarky, vindictive dentist in the entire country then come here. If you want normal dental care where the people who own the practice care about what treatment you get from staff then go somewhere else. ANYWHERE ELSE.

I've been coming here since I moved to Kansas a few years ago and I have had great experiences. The waiting room is large and attractive and they have coffee and water do you can get right to your beverages when you leave. SCHEDULING--I've always had a crazy schedule and they been fantastic at accomodating it on short notice. Whatever software or superpowers they use for scheduling gets you off to a great start. I schedule my cleanings 6 months out to what I think my life will be, the schedule changes, and then I'll call and let the staff know I need a change, and what days/times work. I've been specific like ”Thursday afternoon or Friday only" and they always call me back with a time and day (cancellation)that works. Not sure how they manage the specific requests for everyone but it's amazing. THE DENTISTS-- I've seen both Dr. Van Horn and Dr. Peterson and they're great. I've had a tooth repair completed here, which unfortunately fell off after just a few months. However, what makes me a big fan is the conservative approach to treatment. A previous dentist told me I had multiple cavities after I'd never had one before. I then ignored the issue for a few years till seeing Dr. Van Horn who told me I did not, in fact have any cavities and would only need to keep an eye on the supposedly decaying tooth as it was starting to go that way. Another 2-3 years and they finally thought I needed a filling. But, again there was so little decay and damage to the tooth that they did not need to fill it, only seal it. I've now been about 5-6 years since the supposed cavity was discovered and just had a $50 preventative treatment done to prevent a cavity on that tooth. Both Dr. Van Horn and Dr. Peterson have taken the time to answer questions I've had and to educate me about taking care of my mouth. I feel like they are the total opposite of that crock I saw in my hometown and instead of making up treatments I need, they will take the most conservative approach possible to preserve the health of my mouth and also my wallet. THE HYGIENISTS-- I don't see a specific hygienist here; I've been to multiple people and I have not had a problem. I remember as an adolescent there was one hygienist in my childhood office that was good to go to because she didn't bump my chipped tooth too hard, but I haven't even had to say anything about my sensitivity here or my chipped tooth. Nobody has been too rough and I'm always surprised at how quick the cleaning is. BILLING-- I've had a couple of bills that weren't 100% covered by Delta. The cost estimates have been accurate withing a few dollars and over-estimated when possible. The claims are submitted and approved very quickly, within about 24 hours.
