I only give IU Health Arnett a three star rating because of my personal experiences as well as family and friends. I don't believe it is an IU thing, I believe it is the Medical Industry all together. There is no bedside manners or compassion any more. They brush everything under the table as if everyone walking through the door is looking for their next fix or they just simply don't care about their job. I'm not singling out a specific office, just in a whole.

I have been taking my 4 children to Dr. Hunter for 23 years, and he was the best ever. However, since he retired, I had to find a new primary care physician for my daughter who is having health issues. In the last 2 weeks, we have made 1 trip to the ER in Lafayette, and 2 trips to the ER at Riley. So when I called to schedule my daughter an appointment so we could establish care, there was an opening for Dr. Maloney the same day. This is great I thought because we are very concerned about her symptoms. We had CT Scans, MRI's, MRV's, Lumbar Puncture and 3 EKG's all which have shown normal. Upon arriving at our appointment to see Dr. Maloney, we waited 30 minutes past our scheduled appointment to see her. When she came in the room, she asked my daughter what had been going on and she started to explain. Since we made 3 trips to the ER, I tried to make it easy for the physician to discuss our concerns regarding the high blood pressure and low heartbeat. I listed the dates, the BP readings and BPM readings so she didn't have to scroll through pages of records. She started to mention seeing a Neurologist, and I did inform her that we seen one at Riley and that we would like to see a Cardiologist to rule out any abnormalities with her heart due to palpitations and we wanted to discuss POTS as many of her symptoms mimicked that disorder. Dr. Maloney started listening to my daughters breathing through her stethoscope, and when she reached the bottom right side of her back, she made a concerned look, took the stethoscope off and quickly exited the room slamming the door. My daughter and myself became alarmed of what she was hearing or lack of hearing, thinking she went to go get another provider or something different to listen with. After 5 long minutes passed, she came back in the room and simply handed us 2 pieces of paper and said "ok I sent the referrals". I look at her with a blank stare, and asked if the visit was over, along with my daughter on the verge of a panic attack because we still don't understand what just happened. Dr. Maloney replied, "yes, the visit is concluded, you overwhelmed me and I don't feel comfortable under these circumstances". I have never experienced something quite like this in my 23 years of going to the Dr. I came well prepared with all of the symptoms, dates we had been to the ER and concerns about other testing, and apparently that was "overwhelming". I believe everything happens for a reason, and I'm convinced this very uncomfortable situation happened because she was NOT the right provider for my child. I wanted to share my experience, because she is a Pediatrician and I would NEVER feel comfortable taking my children to her again. As a professional MD, how do you get overwhelmed with patients questions? Isn't that your job? We are simply looking for answers so my child can get back to living a normal life. If you are looking for primary care for your children, please, look at the credentials of the provider, and never let them make you feel like you have "asked too many questions". I hope that no one else has to experience this type of behavior from a Dr. and I would most definitely NOT recommend Dr. Maloney to anyone. I am attaching the little piece of paper to show exactly what was handed to her that she stated was overwhelming.
