I have never witnessed a member of my family be treated so poorly in my life. The disrespect started the moment we walked through the front doors. Staff made jokes toward my younger family member about needing help filling out forms, laughing directly in her face while doing so. It was humiliating and completely unprofessional. Things only got worse from there. We were randomly asked whether our family goes to church an intrusive and inappropriate question that had absolutely nothing to do with the reason we were there. Denise Lovelace, who was supposed to be helping my family member with their mental health, spent an alarming amount of time bragging about her own children and how successful and worry-free their lives are. Saying things like that to someone who has openly shared that they are struggling mentally is wildly insensitive. When our family dynamic came up, she was then met with a barrage of unnecessary, invasive questions, which was especially ironic considering this place claims to be “passionate about helping clients heal from trauma” and supporting individuals with ADHD, PTSD, anxiety, depression, and the LGBTQA+ community.”Nothing about this experience reflected that mission. I’m leaving this review so others don’t walk in expecting genuine mental health support or a safe, compassionate environment. That was not our experience at all. My family member left feeling more belittled and discouraged than when they arrived. The mental health services offered here are an absolute joke.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. Completely unprofessional. The therapist (Denise Lovelace) talked about her self the majority of the time and laughed continuously with the receptionist when my sister asked simple questions. She felt very belittled and uncomfortable. I feel for the people that have to have such a narcissistic and stuck up individual as her as a therapist.

My counselor, Bonnie, did not help me with my depression or anxiety. I was 16 at the time, and my mother brought me in to talk about my eating disorder. I was with Bonnie for months and she never mentioned my eating disorder one time. She imposed religious books on me, and I believe that is extremely inappropriate for someone to do to a child. I would not recommend this place. We spent hundreds of dollars and received nothing in return.

As a foster parent who advocates hard for the children in my care, it is always refreshing to meet a professional who clearly cares about your children as much as you do. We have had such a hard time finding service providers who wont overlook our girls. We were lucky enough to be matched with a wonderful counselor at Lykins. She is very out going, and comforting and even our child on the autism spectrum opened up and looks forward to session with her (for any autism parents out there, you know that's big!) Unfortunately, Lykins terminated that counselor, for advocating too hard to under served youth outside of her community. For children who have autism and for children who have experienced trauma abrupt changes are disastrous. After being given a last date for that counselor apparently Dr, Lykins changed her mind and now my girls are temporarily without a counselor. While I understand that one persons behavior is not indicative of the entire practice, I am perturbed by the fact that Dr. Lykins has such little respect for her clients and would go so far as to leave them in the lurch. I am unimpressed with Dr. Lykins business practices and we will not be back.
