Like most specialists, I had to schedule my appointment out more than a month. It was supposed to be a telehealth appointment, but no one showed up to the virtual waiting room. After 20 minutes of waiting in the virtual waiting room, I called the office. Their line was so busy that I had to have my place in line held for them to call me back. Eventually they called back, I was on the phone with them for 15 minutes. Eventually they told me, essentially, that it was my fault that I missed my appointment, that the doctor showed up and waited and I wasn’t there, so the doctor eventually just left. They said, “Next time, when they send the telehealth link, make sure you click it immediately.” (Which I already had done). They didn’t apologize. Instead, they wanted to schedule a new appointment, another month out, after wasting nearly an hour of my time today.
I just want to feel better, and it’s really unfair to treat patients this way when you’re having technical difficulties. I’m not waiting another month for an appointment just so that this can happen again. I’m terribly upset at the way this was handled, and even more upset that I’m back at square one again after believing that IU Health would be able to help me.
