I cannot in good conscience ever recommend getting care here. I scheduled an appointment with an MFM for a preconception consultation due to a condition I knew would put me at high risk. But after speaking with my cardiologist and pulmonologists, all agreed I was doing well enough to move forward with a pregnancy.
The doctor was about 20 minutes late to our appointment, which is fine, and understandable in this area. However, when she came in, she looked at me and my husband and asked, "So, how can I help you today?"
It felt unprofessional and like she hadn't bothered to read my chart.
When I said we wanted to get pregnant and I knew I would be high risk, she condescendingly asked "Has anyone talked to you about your condition?"
At the end of the appointment, she said I should never get pregnant and that "I'm sorry you wasted your time and money with IVF, I'm sure you wouldn't have done that if you'd known this would be the outcome."
There was no willingness to run tests, no next steps, nothing. I left the appointment empty and devastated.
After getting a second opinion at a different practice, they were immediately on board and had a whole plan. But after running tests, it turns out I don't even have the condition and had been misdiagnosed for 18 months.
But even before knowing that, those doctors knew where I would deliver and had a plan from best case scenario to worst case scenario.
IU's answer? "We don't even know where you would deliver."
They didn't have a plan in any capacity and made it clear from the first meeting they wanted no part in my care. Even if I could go back now I'm less high risk, I wouldn't.
Take your money elsewhere to doctors who are willing to listen and come prepared to their appointments.
