SEE AFTER THIS FOR THE UPDATE: Aware is definitely a step above.. their In Home Addiction Treatment model is incredible! 30 day treatment facilities are a solid piece of the Recovery life.. but what happens after the 30 days? Aware has found that missing piece and I absolutely love it! EDITED UPDATE: Aware WAS one of the best, if not the best in the industry. After almost 3 years of faithful, hard and tiring work of having a caseload of 20+ clients and driving all over God's green earth to meet with them.. Aware decided to completely flip on the service they deliver. Aware went from genuinely caring for the clients to a regime change that focused solely on the dollar amount. This forced a change in culture. Culture tanked, morale fell quickly and clients and Recovery Advisors took the brunt of it. Now they boast that they can fit more clients in, deliver better care and bring better value to the client. This is not true. I left just before a massive change in the company because I could see the writing on the wall. It broke my heart to leave my clients, but I was waking up everyday and reporting in to a company that I couldn't stand anymore. I don't know what's worse.. the focus of the company or the nonchalant, ill-equipped approach they take with clients now.. let alone the treatment of the employees that carried the weight of the company on their backs. Every week you'd hear of another C-Suite hiring.. culture falls to the wayside when you treat your employees with disregard. Overall, I truly loved my job there at Aware. It's unfortunate that it didn't work out.

I cannot fully put into words how wonderful this company and program are! My husband had tried multiple different programs with limited success, this one truly met him where he was, and it made all the difference! He is over a year sober now, and because of this program, it literally changed my life as well. I know there are some poor reviews on here from former disgruntled employees, but as someone who has been a customer and part of the recovery process, I cannot recommend them more. Truly, truly amazing and fantastic people! If you or your loved one, are struggling with addiction, this program is unlike any other, and it works!

A person of non color can not comment on the negative experiences of an African American. I would not use this company!!!

Frequently Asked Questions About Aware Recovery Care

What is the typical length of treatment?

Aware Recovery Care’s statistically proven model is designed to be a 52-week, in-home program. Research conducted with Yale University shows that treatment that runs for an entire year has a significantly higher success rate than programs with shorter courses of treatment. While we recommend that everyone engage in the program for the full 52 weeks, that may not be a viable option for all. Clients do not need to commit to a full year of treatment and have the option to engage monthly. However, we have found that although they are not required, most opt to complete the entire year of treatment.

What does a typical day in Aware Recovery Care look like?

A typical day will consist of a one-hour visit with a member of your care team; a Care Coordinator, one of the two Client Recovery Advisors (CRA), or a telehealth video visit with your Internal Psychotherapist (IPT). Most of our visits are in person, in your home or the community. The Care Coordinator will coordinate and manage your care by connecting you to a Primary Care Physician, local Psychiatrist, specialized therapists, or medical specialists. If you currently have existing providers, the Care Coordinator will collaborate with them on your care, as well as help you navigate the behavioral health and medical landscape. Your CRA will deliver a biopsychosocial curriculum focusing on where you are on your recovery journey. Each intervention is designed specifically to engage and educate about the disease of addiction. You will receive random Urine Drug Screens (or UDS) from your treatment team for increased accountability. However, UDS results are never punitive. CRAs are free to conduct most visits outside the home as well. Popular options include going for a hike while covering the day’s intervention, achieving one of your community goals, introducing you to a local support meeting, or working on the curriculum before or after the meeting. This format allows our clients to experience new, fun activities to do sober with a CRA for the first time, while helping them engage with a support fellowship if they choose to. On certain days, your IPT will offer telehealth therapy around your substance use disorder and help you build coping skills to manage daily triggers and stress. In addition, a Family Education Facilitator will provide support and education to your identified family members about the disease of addiction from a family perspective.
