Overall I would not recommend this location
This was the only place that could get me in same day as I was having problems with my contacts/vision and my usual eye doctor is in Chicago. One star as my exam was fine but was told I’d need an increase in prescription and new contacts lenses - my most recent exam was in October in Chicago and I hadn’t had any changes in 3 years. During my exam I made it well known I have a sensitivity/previous allergic reaction to certain brands and can only use Bausch and Lomb. The Dr. told me it’s a great brand and he would be keeping me on it. He even educated me on the prescription levels Bausch and lomb carries as I was concerned I would eventually max out and not be able to continue to use them. The first issue was when they couldn’t give me trials (didn’t have them in stock which is understandable) but then refused to order me trials as well. I placed my contact order to be mailed to me as I don’t live in Springfield and on the receipt it stated Bausch and Lomb with my prescription.
Today I received my box of contacts and was given a different brand of two-weekly’s not monthly’s. I called the location to express my concerns and the woman over the phone was extremely unprofessional and unwilling to provide assistance. I was told “they don’t prescribe Bausch and Lomb and that I needed to go somewhere else”. She also stated if I wanted any kind of refund I would need to come in person with an unopened box to return. I would have never willingly placed an order for a different brand especially with how much I had to pay. Because of this I ended up calling the Bloomington location which was much more helpful and was told Lens crafters does provide Bausch and Lomb and they offered to let me return the contacts on my way to Chicago since I’ve lost the trust with this company and have no choice but to return to my previous provider.

Hey canceled after noon appointments because of morning snow , but kept all morning appointments. I will not be back. How rude?! You people live in Midwest IL. You know the weather changes constantly this time of year. I took the day off lost wages and my and others appointments was canceled! Why not morning appointments as well. If it was so bad today why did you not close your store.

Went in today for prescription sun glasses. The staff greeted me at the door, listed to what I wanted, showed me a selection of frames based on my description, I quickly found the frames I wanted, and we ordered the lenses. In and out in 30 minutes. Great people
Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
What is the difference between an eye exam and a vision screening?
A comprehensive eye exam is administered by an optometrist and can detect not only vision problems but problems with eye health and general health as well. A vision screening is typically performed by a general medical practitioner such as a pediatrician or a nurse. While a vision screening can help identify vision issues, it can miss many important issues that a comprehensive eye exam can identify. This is why everyone is encouraged to get annual eye exams. Schedule your eye exam today!
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment. Schedule your annual eye exam today.
What should I bring to my eye exam?
You should bring your vision insurance and medical insurance information to your eye exam. If you currently wear any prescription lenses, bring your eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. You should also bring any and all questions you may have. Contact your optometrist if you have specific questions about any additional items you think you may need to bring to your eye exam.
