My experiences with Dr. Soto have been extremely positive. I was referred to him by my primary care physician for consultation regarding my blood pressure medication. Having been diagnosed with ovarian cancer and peritoneal carcinomatosis in June of 2025, I was undergoing chemo preparatory to a debulking operation with HIPEC to follow. The surgeon emphasized that in order for me to be eligible for the operation, my blood pressure needed to be 135/85 (not sure of dyastolic #), 140 tops, and it was a real struggle getting there. Dr. Soto made some suggestions of timing regarding the three meds we were using, and it all fell into place, and the operation went well. I went on to three more chemo treatments, completed in late December 2025.
During my most recent follow-up visit, Dr. Soto noticed some change in my EKG compared to before the treatments, and has recommended an echocardiogram for next week, to get a baseline on how the cancer treatments may have affected the heart.
I am very happy because this gentleman has done more than I could have hoped for without being a pill-pusher.
I consider myself blessed by God to have the support of professionals like this during the toughest time of my life.

Frequently Asked Questions About Chicago Cardiology Institute
What tests will I need to diagnose my heart condition?
Common diagnostic tests include an EKG, echocardiogram, stress test, CT scan, or cardiac catheterization. The SWCVA team will recommend the appropriate tests based on your symptoms and medical history.
What are the symptoms of a heart attack?
Heart attack symptoms include chest pain or pressure, pain radiating to the neck, jaw, shoulders, arms, or back, shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness, sweating, abdominal pain, irregular heartbeat, and fatigue that may occur days before the event. If you suspect a heart attack, call 911 immediately.
What are peripheral vascular conditions?
Peripheral vascular conditions affect blood vessels outside the heart and brain, such as peripheral artery disease, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), and pelvic congestive syndrome. These conditions can cause pain, swelling, and poor circulation. At SWCVA, we diagnose and treat these issues to improve your quality of life.
What causes heart arrhythmias and are they dangerous?
Heart arrhythmias happen when the heart’s electrical signals are disrupted, caused by factors like heart disease, high blood pressure, caffeine, stress, or thyroid issues. While some are harmless, others can lead to serious risks like stroke or cardiac arrest. Treatments are available.
What causes high blood pressure and how can I reduce it?
High blood pressure can result from an unhealthy diet, inactivity, obesity, genetics, or underlying conditions like diabetes or kidney disease. It often has no symptoms, so regular monitoring is key. Lifestyle changes and medications can help lower it, and our doctors can create a personalized treatment plan.
What can I do to stay heart-healthy and reduce my risk of heart issues?
To stay heart-healthy, eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, manage stress, quit smoking, limit alcohol, and get quality sleep. Take medications as prescribed and attend follow-up care. Small changes can lead to a healthier, longer life!
