Looking for a great workout in Orland Park, IL? Inspired by yoga, Pilates, and ballet, Pure Barre is an empowering full-body workout that transforms you physically and mentally. Our classes have been carefully designed to feature low-impact, high-intensity movements for any fitness level. With Pure Barre Orland Park, you'll build full-body strength at our studio and be inspired by our supportive community.
Yesterday, I signed up for a 6:30 PM intro class. When I arrived earlier, Joan informed me telephonically that the required grip socks were $20.99, which I felt was a bit pricey, so I left the parking lot to look for them elsewhere. As a result, I returned at 6:37 PM.
When I arrived, the doors were locked. There were four other women in the hallway. I knocked, and the woman inside acknowledged us but continued speaking through the door. I couldn’t clearly hear her, so I politely asked if she could open it. After about three minutes, she did.
She then stated that the class was canceled because no one showed up. I explained that we were there and ready to participate. She responded that class started at 6:30 and that we were late. She also suggested that if I wanted, I could find a class in Chicago. I explained that I specifically chose the Orland location for a reason. Her response was “Oh well, bummer,” which she repeated several times.
I absolutely understand the importance of punctuality and respecting start times. However, professionalism, approachability, and customer service are equally important in business. The tone and repeated comments felt dismissive and unwelcoming.
Additionally, suggesting we attend a Chicago location felt inappropriate and concerning, especially as two African American women who intentionally selected Orland. It left us feeling stereotyped rather than valued as customers.
I’m sharing this because first impressions matter. Businesses thrive on being welcoming, inclusive, and respectful especially during an intro class meant to attract new clients
