Took my mother as new patient, suggest better seating because it can get pretty full. I wish there was a better way to sign in and be assisted. We didn’t know if we were supposed to stand in line or stay after, not any real direction. And we just waited. Not too long maybe 20-25minutes.
Dr doshi is great, but seeing a tech then an NP is A LOT especially with an elderly patient. Maybe they can consolidate. Overall we were there 2.5 hours but when all is said and done , pretty thorough.

I can not say enough about Dr Balek. I have seen Dr Balek for 6 years now and couldn’t be happier. Dr Balek is informative, down to earth, polite and friendly. He answers my questions in ways I can understand. When I had an er visit 2 years ago Dr Balek was at my bedside in an hour.

Aside from wasting an entire day going to this facility, my biggest regret is not being able to leave less than one star.
My cardiologist referred me to this location for a pet-scan and I emphatically articulated to the office that because I was a very ‘difficult stick’ that it was imperative that someone have access to an ultrasound machine in order to start an I.V. They assured me that they would be able to accommodate this and even re verified the day before the procedure when the office called to confirm.
After checking in and sitting in the waiting room for an hour and 20 minutes, I was finally brought back and slathered with electrodes.
Finally the assistant came back to start the I.V. and told me nobody qualified to use the ultrasound machine was there and that I would need to reschedule…. ?!! I explained that I couldn’t take another entire day off due to their ineptitude and was escorted to the front desk and left, still with numerous electrodes stuck to my upper body. I would have thought this dereliction of diligence would have been emblematic of health care in Haiti but not here.
Frequently Asked Questions About Chicago Cardiology Institute
What tests will I need to diagnose my heart condition?
Common diagnostic tests include an EKG, echocardiogram, stress test, CT scan, or cardiac catheterization. The SWCVA team will recommend the appropriate tests based on your symptoms and medical history.
What are the symptoms of a heart attack?
Heart attack symptoms include chest pain or pressure, pain radiating to the neck, jaw, shoulders, arms, or back, shortness of breath, nausea, dizziness, sweating, abdominal pain, irregular heartbeat, and fatigue that may occur days before the event. If you suspect a heart attack, call 911 immediately.
What are peripheral vascular conditions?
Peripheral vascular conditions affect blood vessels outside the heart and brain, such as peripheral artery disease, deep vein thrombosis (DVT), chronic venous insufficiency (CVI), and pelvic congestive syndrome. These conditions can cause pain, swelling, and poor circulation. At SWCVA, we diagnose and treat these issues to improve your quality of life.
What causes heart arrhythmias and are they dangerous?
Heart arrhythmias happen when the heart’s electrical signals are disrupted, caused by factors like heart disease, high blood pressure, caffeine, stress, or thyroid issues. While some are harmless, others can lead to serious risks like stroke or cardiac arrest. Treatments are available.
What causes high blood pressure and how can I reduce it?
High blood pressure can result from an unhealthy diet, inactivity, obesity, genetics, or underlying conditions like diabetes or kidney disease. It often has no symptoms, so regular monitoring is key. Lifestyle changes and medications can help lower it, and our doctors can create a personalized treatment plan.
What can I do to stay heart-healthy and reduce my risk of heart issues?
To stay heart-healthy, eat a balanced diet, exercise regularly, manage stress, quit smoking, limit alcohol, and get quality sleep. Take medications as prescribed and attend follow-up care. Small changes can lead to a healthier, longer life!
