- RGRobert GustafsonSep 8, 20255.0I had a crown put on a molar by my retired previous dentist that fell off for the 3rd time. I was wondering why a lab made crown would do that. I found out that recementing a crown is not as easy as it would seem. You need to take into account the crown material (mine was zirconia), the tooth shape itself, what bonding medium you’re going to use, is there any contamination (saliva, previous cement, incorrect etching), what cement you’re going to use for strength and longevity, how you’re going to etch the crown (use of hydrofluoric or phosphoric acid or mechanically). Armed with my questions on a 3X5 index card we started the process. I was most concerned Dr.Solis would just say “let’s just start over with an in-office crown”. He didn’t. He said “we’ll use this crown” and proceeded putting the zirconia crown in, explaining as he went and patiently answering any questions i had. He did a super job and i couldn’t be happier. I want to give a shout-out to Christy who did a great job listening to what concerns i had and relaying them to Dr. Solis. She has an upbeat personality that’s perfect for this type of work. Lastly i want to also mention the great job Deanna does with her teeth cleaning. When my previous dentist retired i found out Deanna came to work at Dr. Solis’ office and that’s why i chose Dr. Solis. They make a great team. This is rather long but i felt it important to explain why i recommend this office.
