This is the place I always go to for glasses and contacts, but this is the first time I made an eye exam appointment. I am quite happy with the entire experience! Plus, there are so many affordable options for prescription eyeglasses/sunglasses...I'm lucky they are so close to my home, too.

I brought my son for regular eye exam for a first time as this clinic. While they were doing exam it looked like it’s not busy so i asked if maybe i can do mine as well. As soon i asked Dr. Patel came out and said that, yes she can fit me in. They told me to step out to front desk to create my appointment and while i was doing that they continued with my son’s exam. By the end of his exam i came to the room so she can start mine. I had few questions to ask about my son’s vision and Dr. Patel was trying to answer as quick as possible and putting me in a rushing spot to start my exam. Mine exam was very quick with no concerns. She took us out of the room to her student to check us out and started telling her about the fee’s that needs to be charged. My son wears contact lenses so there was a $90 fit in fee. When i asked what is the fee for, she just said “it’s contact lenses fitting and insurance doesn’t cover it”. I was not there with them for that part and didn’t want that service to be done and still don’t know what exactly was done 🤷♀️. Then there is another $39 fee, one for my exam and one for my son’s that is not covered as well. Again i asked what is that for, she said for the photo that they took of our eyes (they didn’t go over the fees and not asked if we wanted get it done for extra charge). My mistake was i didn’t know what to say at that moment and paid the balance as i walked out and called my husband and he said we never had an exam with those charges with having insurance paying for yearly exams. I work in medical and we never start a procedure without letting a patient know what out of pocket fees are going to be. Worst experience and very unprofessional staff. All day i feel that i got scammed by people who was taught to take care of people.
Frequently Asked Questions About Yorktown Optometry
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment. Schedule your annual eye exam today.
What is involved in an eye exam?
An eye exam involves a series of simple but comprehensive tests that allow your optometrist to assess your vision and your eye health. Your optometrist will discuss the results of your eye exam with you and determine the right prescription to help you to see your best.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
