On May 29, I sent the documents to the office to start the process. My child's wheelchair needed to be modified due to his growth. The company, of course, chose the option that was more profitable for them—purchasing a new wheelchair. Today is December 22. There is no wheelchair, no answers, and no reports from the company. Mr. Sales, the specialist, usually does not answer the phone, does not provide reports, does not return voicemails, the office manager hangs up on me, Mr. Ken, the manager, does not answer the phone, responds after a month, informing me about his vacation, but not about the state of affairs. Do you want this service?

The good news...sales rep and installer Geraldo were amazing. Geraldo truly touched my heart because he was so genuine. The tough part....I cannot reach anyone now that installation done. I need a paid in full bill and there is no one to reach ever in office. Its impossible to make contact. Very troubling despite amazing initial consult with Dan and Geraldo.

My daughter has been in wheelchair for over 30 years after being hit by car as a child. Customer service is great..BUT repair sucks it can take over a month to get someone to come to house then takes another month to get part and then weeks to come install. She is paralyzed it's awful to see her stuck in house waiting for her chair to be repaired
Frequently Asked Questions About National Seating & Mobility
What makes NSM the preferred choice for obtaining mobility solutions?
At NSM, we are uniquely positioned to search hundreds of sources for the precise components needed to create a chair that is made specifically to meet the needs of each client. Each chair can be designed for maximum comfort and ease and will provide the specific therapeutic benefits prescribed for you by the health care team. But what really sets NSM apart is our approach. We work from the heart, honoring your journey of independence with efficient, friendly attention that puts your interests first. This is our life’s work—to help others move through life—and we take it very seriously.
How can I work with NSM for my mobility needs?
National Seating & Mobility is a member of your rehabilitation health care team. We work with your physician, nurses and therapists to provide a one-of-a-kind mobility solution customized to your needs and preferences. Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.
How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
Do I have a choice of which mobility solutions company to use?
The choice of a wheeled mobility supplier is yours. Discuss your decision with your physician and therapist.
