My experiences with the Countryside location has been excellent. Over the last 13 years, they have come out for my husband’s wheelchair maintenance and repairs. They guide me through the process and they take care of the paperwork. Their technicians make house calls for the repairs when possible (all the repairs and maintenance his chair needed was able to be done at our home). This helps a ton since my husband’s MS has confined him to his power chair, which makes it hard to bring it in for repairs.

Do your absolute best to never, ever use this company. It took over 9 months to get our wheelchair, and each time I would call they would gaslight me. Ex: "Well your order hasn't moved ahead because we are waiting for you to pick a color." So no one has called me to tell me they needed that information, but somehow it's my fault. And this company loves nothing more than tranferring to calls to people who know nothing and need to transfer you again.

We have been working with National Seating since 2012 and I can say they have exceptional service.
Jim Larkner is outstanding! He has been assisting us for all years with all of my daughter's needs including manual chair, power chair, driving systems, stander, HTS, lifts, etc. I have a lot of ideas regarding positioning/modifications and Jim always patiently listens and assists with better suggestions. He even helped me pick out the right tools so I can make small adjustments myself without stripping the screws. He has assisted us at home, school, Shirley Ryan and works well with complex issues (and people.)
The office staff is kind and efficient. I phone every now and again on orders. I can imagine the calls they have to take while everyone is waiting on insurance claims. Waiting is the hardest part...but that's not on National Seating, that is the insurance company's doing.
I would not hesitate to recommend National Seating.
Jim is the absolute best!

This company has absolutely the worst customer service I have ever had to deal with! It has been nearly a year since I originally called to have my son’s wheelchair adjusted to account for how much he has grown (he was 4 years old at the time, now 5, so you can imagine how fast he’s growing). I understand that parts can take awhile to come in, but I spoke with someone, almost 3 months ago that said his parts are in and that someone will call me to schedule a time to adjust his wheelchair. No one has called me, and I have been calling almost every week and have still not been able to speak with someone who can schedule an appointment. After he grows out of this wheelchair completely, I will never work with this company again! So disappointing!
Frequently Asked Questions About National Seating & Mobility
What makes NSM the preferred choice for obtaining mobility solutions?
At NSM, we are uniquely positioned to search hundreds of sources for the precise components needed to create a chair that is made specifically to meet the needs of each client. Each chair can be designed for maximum comfort and ease and will provide the specific therapeutic benefits prescribed for you by the health care team. But what really sets NSM apart is our approach. We work from the heart, honoring your journey of independence with efficient, friendly attention that puts your interests first. This is our life’s work—to help others move through life—and we take it very seriously.
How can I work with NSM for my mobility needs?
National Seating & Mobility is a member of your rehabilitation health care team. We work with your physician, nurses and therapists to provide a one-of-a-kind mobility solution customized to your needs and preferences. Because we work in a partnership with your health care team, we require a referral from them in order to be your mobility provider. To help ensure your choice of NSM, you should request that your physician and/or therapist select us as your provider of choice.
How long does it take to get a new power wheelchair from NSM?
NSM strives to complete each timeline phase as quickly as possible without compromising any step in the process. Please refer to this page for the full timeline. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
Why must I see a doctor to get a wheelchair from NSM?
Our clients have mobility challenges and are referred to us by therapists and physicians to receive mobility solutions that meets all their unique needs. If you need a wheelchair, your best plan is to talk with your physician or therapist and get a thorough evaluation from a qualified Rehab Technology Supplier (RTS).
What if my medical condition changes?
Contact your local NSM branch and notify us of any changes that may affect the proper fit and function of your chair.
Are there any dangers in using an off-the-shelf wheelchair?
Definitely. A standard or not customized chair can cause more harm than good. People come in all shapes and sizes; their chairs must be designed to fit them. In severe situations, a standard or not customized chair may:
- Cause significant physiological and psychological problems
- Lead to an increase in dependence because it’s not used due to lack of comfort
- Cause pressure sores, or decubitus, due to improper cushioning
- Become obsolete quickly if not configured to “grow with the child”
- Become a major expense to replace or reconfigure, because most funding sources will only reimburse for a new chair every five years.
Do I have a choice of which mobility solutions company to use?
The choice of a wheeled mobility supplier is yours. Discuss your decision with your physician and therapist.
