I really like this gym! Child care is an important factor for my review. My 8 month old always looks happy when I go to pick her up. I can tell she has fun and they take great care of her, which keeps me coming back more frequently. The staff (and members) are super friendly and helpful at this location! They gave me a one week free trial to ensure it was a good fit before I signed up. It’s been a positive experience for me, and much of that goes back to how professional and kind the staff are.

Kind employees and clean facility. Had a swim with my kids and was nice! Worked out here before as well and nice gym facility.

I’ve been a member of this YMCA location for years, and it’s heartbreaking to watch a once-reliable community resource slide into mediocrity. Yes, the staff are friendly and the facilities are generally clean (those are literally the bare minimum expectations), but everything else is a masterclass in poor management and disregard for paying members. Just last week I took my young daughter for a swim, and midway through our session we were abruptly told to get out because the chlorine levels were at “dangerous” levels. We had already been swimming for a while. How long had it been unsafe before someone finally noticed? This isn’t just inconvenient; it’s a serious safety issue. The pool is almost never reliably available anyway. It’s either booked solid with lessons, “under maintenance,” or apparently filled with hazardous chemicals. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve shown up excited for a lap swim or family time only to be turned away. Weekend hours are an absolute joke: they now close at 5 PM on Saturdays and don’t open until noon on Sundays because the facility is rented out to a church. If you have a normal adult schedule, good luck finding time to use the place you’re paying for. And don’t get me started on their snow policy. An inch of flurries and they’re closed, while every other gym and business in town stays open. The worst part is the attitude that comes with being a “well-established” organization: the sense that they no longer need to try. Services feel entirely optional. You might get what you pay for, or you might not. Customer convenience and basic safety clearly take a back seat to whatever is easiest for management. The YMCA used to stand for something. This location has sadly forgotten that paying members (and their children) are the reason it exists at all.

I did not have a good experience here. I joined December 1st and terminated my membership on December 15th. The admission director is amazing. However, this place is unorganized. Too much money for pools not to be working. And no communication or compensation.

Great place to go, like it as its within bicycling distance. This would be a five star review but their hours are a little shorter than east Belleville/Ofallon. Today, rode over and closed at 4pm, so rode over to east belleville which closes at 6pm on Saturday.
