Had a great exam and cleaning at Dubuque Dental Associates. Probably the most pain free yet thorough cleaning I have ever had thanks to Lauren- and she answered all my questions and was very helpful.

Frequently Asked Questions About Dubuque Dental Associates, PC
How much does dentistry cost?
Dental costs vary widely depending on the specific procedure and individual circumstances. We recommend scheduling a consultation to discuss your dental needs and receive a personalized cost estimate.
How do I know if my insurance will cover my dental procedure?
Typically, dental insurance covers routine cleanings and may partially cover other procedures. However, most dental treatments involve some out-of-pocket expenses. We can help you understand your insurance coverage and potential costs.
When should I first take my child to the dentist?
It's recommended to bring your child for their first dental visit by their first birthday or within six months after their first tooth appears, whichever comes first.
If I have dentures, do I need to keep seeing the dentist?
Regular dental visits are still important for denture wearers. These check-ups allow us to monitor your oral health, ensure proper denture fit, and address any issues that may arise.
What sedation options do you offer at your office?
Our office primarily uses local anesthesia for dental procedures. We don't currently offer sedation dentistry options.
Can I drive after having a tooth extraction?
If only local anesthesia was used, you can usually drive after a tooth extraction. However, if you received sedation or general anesthesia, it's not safe to drive and you should arrange alternative transportation.
Can I go back to work after having a tooth extraction?
Returning to work after a tooth extraction is often possible, depending on the procedure's complexity and how you're feeling. If needed, we can provide a note for your employer if you require time off to recover.
Can I use baking soda to whiten my teeth?
We don't recommend using baking soda to whiten teeth. It's abrasive nature can damage your tooth enamel. Instead, we can suggest safe and effective whitening options.
I am prone to canker sores, is there a toothpaste that can help? Are there foods that make my canker sores worse?
Using toothpaste without sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) may help reduce canker sore occurrences. Additionally, limiting acidic, spicy, and salty foods can help prevent irritation and worsening of canker sores.
My child has an adult tooth coming in behind a baby tooth, what should I do?
This is a common occurrence. Encourage your child to gently wiggle the baby tooth to promote natural loss. As the adult tooth emerges, it naturally dissolves the baby tooth's roots, leaving it connected only by soft tissue.
