I had a great experience with Lens Crafters on 1st Ave. It wasn't perfect, but I think their response to making everything right is what earns them 5 stars.
I had an eye exam from Midwest Optometry located inside this store and got a new prescription. I then picked a nice pair of Ray-Ban frames. When the frames arrived I noticed they were a tad bigger on my face than I liked. So I went back to see if they maybe had a smaller size. They did not have the next size down in stock, but said they could order them. They went ahead and ordered them and they arrived very quickly. When the new frames arrived however, I noticed there was what appeared like a smudge that wouldn't go away. Turns out it was a defect with the lenses. They apologized, and said they would order new lenses.
New lenses arrived and now everything is perfect.
Everyone was so polite, and they ultimately made me feel like they weren't happy until I was happy with my purchase!

I’m very disappointed with my experience here with Brad Parsons. I had an appointment scheduled for my daughter for nearly two months. She recently lost her glasses, which are a medical necessity, and I was hoping the office would offer some affordable replacement options for low-income families. They do not.
I previously paid over $300 out of pocket for her glasses, which is a significant financial burden. When I called today—less than an hour before our scheduled appointment—to confirm, I was told there were no affordability options whatsoever, and then informed that they no longer accept our insurance.
This information was never communicated ahead of time, despite the appointment being scheduled for months. As a result, I had to cancel an important appointment and my child is left without glasses.
Families with limited income need transparency and basic consideration when it comes to essential care. Unfortunately, this office provided neither.

This store is BEAUTIFUL!! Christina was absolutely phenomenal. Every associate in the store was really helpful and honest. Picking out glasses is always so stressful but Christina made everything so easy and I actually had fun! They made sure I got the best price for my lenses too. Customer service like this is uncommon- if you’re nervous about your eye exam or need honest opinions on your glasses, go to this location!! I’m SO excited for my new glasses!!!

This was a great experience for me who is wearing glasses for the first time! The optometrist and front desk lady was amazing after I had went to another eye dr and they gave me the wrong prescription and I still couldn't see. The other place didn't adjust my glasses and they were sitting crooked on my face and so tight on my right ear. I paid over $250 for the frames and still couldn't see and they were so uncomfortable. Lenscrafters adjusted them for free and they are going to reset my frame to the correct lenses so I can keep the frames I already paid for. Then I bought another $255 frame as a back up. Matthew went out and picked out similar style frames for me to try on so I wasn't aimlessly wondering around the store, again it being my first time ever having to wear glasses. He made it so easy. As I picked out the lenses, he explained what choices I had and explained what each thing meant so I could be comfortable and what I needed for my everyday use of the glasses. I had no clue at the other place what everything meant. He helped me through it all. Then another lady said there was a 50% off coupon that was available for my purchase. They all helped me so much. I will never go anywhere else to purchase glasses except Lenscrafters on 1st Ave SE in Cedar Rapids, IA. Wonderful experience! I highly recommend Lenscrafters!!!! Thank you all so much!
Taking your child to an optometrist for an eye exam is the best way to learn if your child needs glasses. Many children who need glasses aren’t aware that they do. Signs of vision problems in children include sitting too close to the television, squinting, sensitivity to light, difficulty with eye-hand coordination, and avoiding visual activities like reading and drawing. To see if your child needs glasses, schedule your child’s eye exam today.
Is a contact lens exam different than an eye exam?
A normal, comprehensive eye exam will allow your optometrist to determine if your eyes are healthy enough to wear contact lenses. During your contact lens fitting, detailed measurements of your eyes will be taken to determine the right contact lenses for you. There is an additional fee for a contact lens fitting and evaluation for all contact lens patients (both new and established patients). Schedule your eye exam today to have all of your questions about contact lenses answered.
What is the difference between an eye exam and a vision screening?
A comprehensive eye exam is administered by an optometrist and can detect not only vision problems but problems with eye health and general health as well. A vision screening is typically performed by a general medical practitioner such as a pediatrician or a nurse. While a vision screening can help identify vision issues, it can miss many important issues that a comprehensive eye exam can identify. This is why everyone is encouraged to get annual eye exams. Schedule your eye exam today!
Why should I get an eye exam?
An annual eye exam involves more than just updating your glasses or contact prescription. A comprehensive eye exam can also detect eye health issues as well as general health problems. Conditions such as diabetes and high blood pressure can be detected in early stages through an eye exam, and this can result in early treatment. Schedule your annual eye exam today.
What should I bring to my eye exam?
You should bring your vision insurance and medical insurance information to your eye exam. If you currently wear any prescription lenses, bring your eyeglasses, sunglasses, and contact lenses. You should also bring any and all questions you may have. Contact your optometrist if you have specific questions about any additional items you think you may need to bring to your eye exam.
