  We went hear to watch reading rockets play bristol hurricanes. Our first ever basketball game. our 11yr old boy has taken an intrest in basketball so we choose to go and watch reading rockets as our chosen team to support as they are one of local teams and this there venue for home games. The leasure centre is an amazing place and very clean. We saw a couple of ample sized swimming pools whilst we were there and they looked fab. Also there's a Costa in the venue.

  Friendly pleasant staff, facilities as shown on website, useful app to book and parking space usually good. Occasional issues with hairdryers/ showers can take a while to fix and if there was a 4+ option I'd give it

  ⭐ 1/5 — Serious improvement in hygiene is required I am giving Loddon Valley Leisure Centre only one star because the overall hygiene standard in the gym is extremely disappointing. The centre has many useful facilities and the equipment itself may be decent, but what is the point of having good machines when they are regularly left dirty? There is a shocking amount of dust lying on the gym machines. It is not just a small amount that has collected overnight—the dust looks as though some areas have not been properly cleaned for a long time. It is clearly visible on the machines, frames, surfaces and less-used parts of the equipment. I have photographs showing the amount of dust, so this is not an exaggeration or a complaint being made without evidence. On top of this, many members finish their exercises and walk away without wiping down the equipment. Seats, handles, benches and other touchpoints are regularly left sweaty for the next person. There does not appear to be enough monitoring or enforcement from staff. A notice asking people to clean equipment is not enough. If members repeatedly ignore the rules, staff need to remind them and make sure the gym remains hygienic throughout the day. I fully understand that every member has a personal responsibility to wipe down a machine after use. However, the centre also collects membership fees and has a duty to maintain basic cleanliness. Members cannot be expected to remove accumulated dust or carry out the centre’s routine cleaning. Staff should conduct frequent cleaning rounds instead of allowing dust and dirt to remain on the machines. There should be plenty of cleaning spray, paper towels or wipes conveniently available throughout the gym, and these supplies should always be refilled. The equipment needs to be cleaned properly—not only the obvious handles and seats, but also the machine frames, bases, screens, cup holders and the areas underneath and between machines where dust keeps accumulating. Honestly speaking, this entire gym needs a thorough deep clean and a much better daily cleaning schedule. Gym equipment is shared by hundreds of people, so hygiene cannot be treated casually. Nobody should have to inspect and clean every machine before beginning an exercise because they are worried about somebody else’s sweat, dust and dirt. It is unpleasant, unhygienic and completely spoils the workout experience. Management should introduce frequent documented cleaning checks, install more cleaning stations and ensure that staff visibly inspect the gym floor. Members who repeatedly refuse to wipe machines should be reminded directly about basic gym etiquette. Other gyms manage to maintain these standards, so there is no reason why Loddon Valley cannot do the same. I am not expecting a five-star luxury health club. I am simply expecting the basic cleanliness that should be provided at any leisure centre where people come to improve their health. When thick, clearly visible dust is lying on exercise machines, it gives the impression that cleaning and maintenance are not being taken seriously. This issue requires urgent attention from management—not just more signs or empty assurances, but proper action, consistent supervision and regular deep cleaning. I hope management looks at the photographs and takes this feedback seriously. Until the dust is properly removed, the machines are cleaned regularly and members are encouraged to follow the hygiene rules, I cannot recommend this gym. Members are paying for a safe, clean and comfortable place to exercise, and at present that reasonable expectation is not being met.

  Caitlin at Lodden Valley Leisure Centre was very patient and helpful. she genuinely tried her best and spent time making sure I understood the next steps. My son attends swimming lessons here and he’s very happy with his trainer, Sofia, who is always kind and encouraging. Really grateful for the supportive staff.
