PHARMACY STAFF and their SALARIES ARE PREDOMINANTLY (mainly) PAID FOR BY THE NHS, through the (NI) NATIONAL INSURANCE PAYMENTS, shown on your wage slip. More staff? = requires higher NI deductions. ALL pharmacies have 'electronic' prescriptions (97% of repeats or telephone appointment scripts, are electronically issued, DIRECTLY to Pharmacy selected) Being 1st or 20th in the real life queue, doesn't give you the option of jumping to the front, when 97% of issued scripts are already in the system awaiting issue. (Some in the queue are collecting their scripts) I personally use Cowbridge Rd and 94% of the time, my extensive scripts (4 pages) are dealt with asap but prescriptions are delivered by me personally, as some medication requires ordering. I found advising them when handing scripts to staff, explaining if I'm low on certain meds, going away works extremely well etc. Staff checked availability 1st, before fullfilling the scripts. NOT ALL staff are Technicians who can legally issue meds at a certain level, then they have to be checked and signed off by Pharmacist. Only a qualified Pharmacist can unlock the cabinet for controlled medication (CD) Yes its a pain in the butt having to wait, but not paying for scripts in Wales UK doesn't mean staff are unpaid. It's impossible to have staff waiting in a cabinet just in case of an influx of patients. With regard to a different brand of 'same medication' cannot legally be changed by Pharmacist. This can only be changed by your Dr. I know this when stocks of an important drug was unavailable, but they could'nt just swop it to a readily available brand. While a brand name is owned by original 'owner' they may be additional base ingredients incompatable with your other medication OR you may not be able to tolerate it. Eg: paracetamol has the same 'active' ingredients but have inactive ingredients that could be dangerous to YOU. BUT soluble brands have high sodium levels, which if taking FULL dosage, means you are exceeding the daily salt amount, which could be lethal with patients with heart or stroke risk.

Poor service, prescription not ready at time give for collection, When ready items missing and only given an IOU in the bag with no contact details or any indication of when these medication may be ready. Not told about this at the time of collection and left to find out on arriving home.
