David Lloyd Swansea is a first-class fitness destination for the whole family. With a stunning exercise studio, a state-of-the-art gym, world class courts, group-exercise classes and kids’ club, there’s something here for everyone.
We have generally enjoyed using the Swansea David Lloyd club and currently hold multiple family and platinum memberships through our family and associated businesses. The wider staff team are usually excellent, welcoming and professional, which makes this review disappointing to write.
Today, however, we experienced extremely poor conduct from the General Manager.
Due to the hot weather, the doors into the adult lounge/pool area had been left open and our children briefly moved towards the area before we immediately addressed the situation. We fully understand and respect the importance of supervising children around adult facilities and had absolutely no issue with this being raised to us.
What was completely unacceptable was the manner and tone that followed.
The conversation became personal, with comments accusing me of “stealing staff” after I had previously spoken to a member of staff about a small part-time evening opportunity that would not interfere with their role at David Lloyd. I had already made clear they were not leaving the business.
As operators of a hospitality group ourselves, we understand customer service, professionalism and leadership standards very well. Unfortunately, the attitude displayed towards our family was defensive, confrontational and deeply unprofessional, particularly in front of children.
For a premium health club that promotes professionalism and member experience, the interaction fell well below the standard we would expect.
Very disappointing.

They want £25 for a day pass and I must attend with a member who's already paying 100s, the reviews say their stuff outdated and broken or it doesn't support certain apps any more, for the price of a full membership you would think they would want people to come in a check out what they have for offer but I can only assume they don't want this because a trail day especially at peak times is going to result in the person not signing up. It's a bit scammy tbh. My current gym (voted the best gym in the UK recently and featured on tons of videos online) is £25 per month, the gym itself is far superior to David Lloyd's and offers a free day pass, infect the fact they gave me my wife and two kids a pass each is what made me sign up with them. They have since expanded offering all locations they run for the £25 membership. That's crazy. The fact David Lloyd's charges so much for so little extra than a leisure center is criminal and the fact they rarely or never offer a trail period shows what their really up to there. David Lloyd's exists solely for people who think a more expensive gym membership gets better results and who have never trained seriously ever in other gyms so their none the wiser about the ripping of they are receiving.

Great family focused gym and if you have small children you'll really love it here.
However, if you don't it can be a little tiring. There are no child free areas except the actual gym floor & 1 studio. The cafe 'adult only' area is used by all ages to access the pool. Trying to have a quiet conversation last week while unsupervised small children bouncing balls and running past you can be a little tedious. I've had to literaly step around a baby crawling along the cafe floor while carrying a hot coffee! There's no sensible layout to help manage children who want to run back and forth to mum & Dad from the children's areas and ballpit door is right in the entrance so you have them running into you the second you enter the building. The outdoor pool says adults only but very small children use it on sunny days as well as indoors so there's no escape. Staff were literally helping small unsupervised children open gates to it when we were there. Showering next to parents who have 3 children spread in different cubicles and literally yelling over your head about what they're getting at McDonald's 🥲
Outside that the few classes available in evenings are always booked out and everything is outdated. It's supposed to be getting an update but theyre so focused on being child friendly that I don't think they'll have addressed the lack of adult only spaces. I'm left paying a lot of money to only be able to access facilities very late or very early if I'm looking for a more relaxed atmosphere.
