Good points: - New gym equipment is the latest technogym kit (which we are paying for with higher membership fees introduced) - Gym floor has been greatly improved - Friendly + helpful reception staff Bad Points: - outdated entry system using 90's card entry which doesn't work half the time. - Changing rooms have towels left on the benches. - Monthly membership is going upto £160/month for a 12 month contract!! It's not worth £100+ membership fee!

Paid for multi-club access. They took it away overnight. I joined Virgin Active specifically because my Multi Access membership gave me access to clubs near both my workplace and my family - specifically the Crouch End Branch. That was the whole point. Without it, the membership simply doesn't work for my life. With no advance warning whatsoever, I received an email on 1st May telling me that three clubs - Strand, Crouch End and Clapham - had been moved to a higher tier, effective that same day. I have now lost access to all three, and when I contacted Virgin Active to discuss this, I was told the only resolution was to pay an additional £28 per month. I find this deeply frustrating. The ability to access multiple clubs wasn't a perk - it was the entire basis on which I signed up and have been a member since July 2023. To have that significantly reduced overnight, with no notice period and no meaningful remedy offered, feels like a breach of the consumer rights I'm entitled to under the Consumer Rights Act 2015, which protects against businesses making unilateral changes that materially reduce the service a customer contracted for. I will be making a formal complaint and I'm also seeking advice on my options. I'd encourage anyone considering a Multi Access membership to think carefully about whether Virgin Active will honour what you sign up for - because based on my experience, there is nothing stopping them from quietly reducing your access and asking you to pay more to get it back.

I’ve been a member for 10 months, splitting my time between the Angel and Crouch End gyms. I chose Angel as my home gym, as it’s closer to my office & liked having access to both. Crouch End was recently refurbished and moved up a membership tier, which means I’ve lost access without any prior communication. I only found out when I turned up and was turned away. With just two months left on my contract, there’s no point in upgrading. The refurbishment looks great, but the lack of communication and respect for existing members is really disappointing

It’s now next to impossible to find a locker. I come when the club opens but there’s usually only a few free lockers that people don’t use to store their stuff indefinitely. And then some will have someone’s old socks in it or the hanger broken so you can’t use those either. Can this be dealt with? I’ve complained to the management many times. People should not be storing their stuff there.
