  Staff great. Really friendly, approachable and knowledgeable. Not pushed to buy their frames. But disappointed that I was seen 15 minutes after appointment time, but staff attitude and attributes made up for that. EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED that you no longer live up to your express name (and previous reputation) and I have to wait 2 weeks for my spectacles.

  Eye test was fine with a lovely optometrist, I picked my glasses and the young lady that helped me was friendly and we discussed a different opticians i explained i wouldn't use this other optician again because of the bad experience I had with them. 2 days after my eye examination I received a text to say my glasses was ready i thought brilliant service. I made the 14 miles round trip for nothing! The member of staff behind the counter was rude, and they had put my distance prescription in instead of my reading prescription in my glasses. So that's another opticians that i won't be returning to.

  I went for a contact lens check up. I met Margaret who was lovely and thorough and explained what was going on as I had recently had an accident with my eye. She assured me she would see if I could get any help with my ongoing problem even though it was just the contacts we were looking at. Thank you Margaret x

  My wife got an eye test from Vision Express. When I arrived, there were three staff members arguing amongst themselves at the front counter about why someone’s glasses were not ordered correctly and why there were not sufficient notes left on the system. This was happening right in front of me. I got the prescription paid for the exam examination and left. I did enquire about a blue discount for key workers. I was told I would have to spend £50 or higher in order for the blue light discount to be applicable. Either give key workers a blue light discount or don’t. I then asked the prescription to be fitted into my wife’s Glasses that she already owns and the optician (online) asked what the PD value was. The PD value was not on the prescription. I called back and I spoke to a member staff requesting that if I come back can my wife’s PD value be measured and given to me. I was told it will not be possible as the PD value is only given if you buy Glasses from them. I then asked to speak with a manager (Helen) I explained the situation and told the her that I am in a bit of a situation and I required the PD measurements. I explained to Helen that when I got my eyes tested at a different opticians they provided me the PD value. So I was under the impression that’s this is normal and part of the eye examination. Helen then wanted to know the name of the optician I went to which I gave and told me that they can’t provide me the PD value unless I buy one of their frames. To be honest, I would buy one of the frames if any of them were even the slightest bit interesting and unique. The brand that my wife wanted is a brand that they don’t carry. I was then told by Helen that I should go to the other optician if they’re providing the PD value because there’s nothing she can do about it. The rules and regulations were quoted to me again and again throughout the conversation which I understand and agree that they must be followed, but all I was asking for was a quick measurement of the pupil distance.It would take 1 min. So I followed Helen’s advice. I went back to the opticians where I personally got my eyes tested. The optician was more than happy to fit her in on the same day. Measure the PD value in less than 60 seconds and do all of that at no cost this is an independent family owned optician not a massive corporation like vision express if they could’ve helped me so vision express it will have cost them nothing but a few minutes they would have gained a customer for life. Instead of a negative review being left I would’ve left a positive review. I also told Helen that I paid for an eye examination and surely the PD value which is the pupil distance value should be part of the eye examination and if it’s not to be part of the examination the customer should be made aware of exactly what will be offered as part of that service. Helen told me on the phone that she does not have to tell the customer what is included and what is not included in the eye examination this does not seem right. I should’ve been made aware exactly what the eye examination entails and what is not included. Getting the prescription but not having a PD value is an incomplete eye examination for a person who wants to get lenses fitted to frames not offered by vision express or just to get their new prescription in already owned frames. I feel like vision express has their system set up in a way in which you have to go through their whole process to the very end in which you select your Glasses and that’s the only way you get the full experience. Moving the PD value to the next step of the process and not having it as part of the eye examination process it’s just weird and unnecessary. Several times during the conversation with Helen I was rudely interrupted and being told to go to a different optician, was not the customer experience I was expecting. Nevertheless I did my part by speaking to Helen in a calm and professional manner and I hope that came across to you, Helen I hope it’s something you can implement in the future.
