  I had to return a pair of glasses to this Vision Express branch because the prescription simply didn’t work for me—it was causing severe eye strain, and I just wanted a refund. Everything was going smoothly until an absurd, outdated security rule was brought up.The store manager initially refused to process my refund because the back of my physical payment card was not signed. In this day and age, nobody signs the back of their cards anymore. I tried to explain the complete lack of logic in this rule: what is the proof value of it? If I were a fraudster, I could literally just go to the restroom or come back the next day, sign any random name on the card, and bring it back. Furthermore, a real fraudster would never walk under security cameras with the original receipt, matching name, and the glasses.To prove my identity, I even showed the manager my official photo driving licence along with 3 or 4 other credit cards registered under my name. They completely ignored this. If a fraudster steals someone's wallet, they wouldn't go through the professional trouble of counterfeiting a fake driving licence with their own photo just for a £200 refund.I also pointed out a huge flaw in their system: what if I had paid using Apple Pay or Google Pay via my phone? Digital cards do not have a physical signature strip on them, so they wouldn’t even have been able to check any signature in the first place! The rule is completely obsolete. I had a similar refund experience recently at a competitor (Specsavers), where I just tapped my card and received my money instantly with zero hassle. They are far more flexible and modern.Unfortunately, this manager completely lacked basic human empathy and professional standards. Someone in such a high position in retail should never behave this way. They kept making an issue out of a meaningless signature detail, refused to listen, and kept interrupting me.In the end, they decided to waive the rule and I received my refund, but the manager's dismissive behavior turned this into a deeply stressful experience that literally caused my blood pressure to rise and gave me a severe headache. Vision Express urgently needs to review these foolish, outdated policies so other customers don't have to face this situation. Because of how I was treated by the management, I will never step foot in any of their stores ever again.

  Vision Express Lakeside staff are friendly, efficient and helpful. I was seen straight away, the tests were thorough and everything was explained to me. My only criticism is the cost of my new glasses which was nearly £400 including delivery (£3.50).
