Very good customer service, we were shown around all of the facilities in detail and the staff were very pleasant. On the first visit we were convinced to get a membership each due to the amazing opportunity. Starting with a talk we were able to understand everything about the club and have any questions we had answered. Everyone there is very friendly and overall it was a very positive experience with the employe Sam who was incredibly helpful and we couldn’t have had a better experience

Sam showed me around the club . He was very friendly, polite and patient with all my questions!
Easy to join the club and have enjoyed my first session 😊 Can’t wait to becoming fitter and enjoying different the sporting activities .

The classes are great (especially Jo & Anna) and the staff are friendly. However, the facilities are inadequate — broken equipment, leaks, and persistent smells from the pipes in the pool/changing area. The gym has dropped a tier since I joined, yet membership prices continue to increase year after year.

I’ve noticed a significant reduction in the number of Les Mills BodyPump classes at David Lloyd Long Ashton. There are now only three morning sessions available, with two scheduled on the same day just two hours apart, which isn’t practical for many members.
Several members have raised concerns about the lack of availability, especially for those who can’t attend evening classes, but there doesn’t seem to be any effort to address this. On top of that, members at this club are now restricted from using facilities at other locations, while members from other clubs can still come here — despite us paying the same membership fees as those in Bristol.
The gym is also overcrowded, to the point where it’s sometimes impossible to use any equipment or using the parking.
Overall, the experience has declined, and based on these issues, I wouldn’t recommend this club. I would suggest considering other gyms in the area instead.

27.04.26 UPDATE FOLLOWING DL RESPONSE:
Thank you for your response.
For clarity, these issues have already been raised extensively with the Club and escalated through your internal process to regional (South West -Beth Shipway) management, where a final response was provided declining any refund or price adjustment and stating that cancellation was the available option if we were dissatisfied.
In those circumstances, referring this back to the Club is not helpful. We remain open to a constructive resolution if one is now offered.
ORIGNAL REVIEW:We’ve been members of David Lloyd Long Ashton since 2013, so this is based on long-term experience rather than a one-off visit.
Since December 2023, there have been ongoing and repeated issues with the treadmills—faulty screens, machines freezing, and often needing to try multiple machines before finding one that works properly. This has been raised with the club many times over more than two years.
Proper functioning treadmills are of particular importance to us as we use the Club as part of structured running and triathlon training. Unfortunately, this issue sits within a wider pattern of ongoing maintenance and facility problems at the club over many months, including occasional roof leaks, limited parking availability at peak times, recurring drainage issues in the toilets (which were only recently addressed after a prolonged period), and frequent problems with the water fountains.
While the issues have been acknowledged, save for the drainage issues, they have never been properly resolved and no clear timeline has ever been provided regarding future action.
What is particularly disappointing is the response when we asked for a partial refund or price adjustment to reflect the reduced service. This was refused, and we were effectively told that if we were unhappy, we could cancel our membership.
Given the level of fees and the length of time these problems have persisted, this feels like a very poor outcome for long-standing members.
We would welcome a constructive response from the club as we would still prefer to resolve this without further escalation.
