After being a member for a little while now I thought I'd give an updated review. The thing is its an expensive gym (several hundred pounds for 2) and its in a nice area, local to us, and we try and use it at least 15 times a month to get our moneys worth.
The car park is not upto service at times, families rarely use the correct changing rooms, the "adult only" times are not really adhered too and there are some very young people using the gym unsupervised, the towels can be like using a flatbread to dry yourself with, the outdoor spa is no where near the level of other clubs in the area and the water fountains are warm, yes warm, all year round. How hard can it be to install a chilled option?? Or an ice machine? And there are no staff helping members on the gym floor everyone is with 1 on 1 PT (which is additional) just 1 or 2 members of staff helping re-rack weights, helping people with form etc would be great.
On a good side the staff are very nice, the equipment is well maintained, fitness studios are great and the indoor spa and pool are very nice. We're right between Weybridge club and Woking. If I could swap half of 1 club with the other I would.

Very dirty, staff were unkind and very judgemental. Never felt welcomed. Wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t suggest for anyone.

I’ve been training with Stu at David Lloyd Brooklands and couldn’t be happier with the progress I’ve made. He is incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and supportive, creating an environment where I always feel comfortable and confident, regardless of my ability level.
Since working with him, I’ve seen a significant improvement in the amount of weight I’m able to lift, and I genuinely feel stronger and fitter. Every session is well planned, challenging, and motivating, and I always leave feeling amazing.
What I particularly appreciate is that Stu provides practical exercise suggestions and techniques that I can incorporate into my own gym sessions, helping me continue progressing between appointments.
I would highly recommend Stu to anyone looking for a personal trainer who is approachable, encouraging, and genuinely invested in helping his clients achieve their goals.

Great club with nice facilities, but it's simply overcrowded. A gym session that should take no longer than an hour regularly takes two, as so much time is spent waiting to use the equipment.
I brought this up with the membership team, but they didn't have any sort of answer - all down to Head Office apparently.
I visited another David Lloyd in the north-west recently. Twice the size and half the price, and no waiting around.
Would it be too much to ask the club to stop recruiting new members, or put the annual price hikes on hold, at least? It feels like we're just being fleeced in the name of profits.

PART 1: David Lloyds Brookland : A case study in how to destroy a private club.
This club was one of the best that David Lloyds had to offer anywhere in the country. I have been members for years and had been to the ones in Kingston, Nottingham, Chelsea in London, Farnham which has a great SPA as well and Hampton Court. DL Brooklands was the best and had a loyal customer base which had been there for years. The club was civilized, with great staff (and staff are still amazing and a glowing five stars for all of them - Raj runs the club area efficiently - is super friendly and so are all other staffs including Josh, Charlotte, Julie, Lisa, Louisa, Chloe, Annabelle …. and every other ones that I have missed including the reception staff who are just brilliant and the reason that many longer term
customers are still with DL).
However over the last 12-18 to coincide with the construction of the SPA and the swimming pool management has managed to completely destroy the character, ambience and the feel of this club. An over enthusiasm to recruit new members has meant that they have gone well over acceptable capacity with no regards to who is becoming a member which has destroyed the identity and at times the civility within the club.
Far less important are the facts that the car park is full at times and recently there was a queue of cars formed to get in the parking area or the fact that some new members now feel they are German sun-seekers and leave their towels on sunbeds by the pool and then disappear into the gym or the SPA. More important is the behaviour within the club which is beginning at times to resemble football hooligans after they have had 10 pints. Let me give you a few examples from the last year to yesterday :
1) Fabio who was a manager on duty and has now left had to interfere at my behest within the SPA. The reason - a 60 odd year old gentlemen by the name of Paul whose surname is protected to protect his identity has asked two 30 year olds who looked like travellers to talk quieter if possible as they were shouting. Their reaction was to start swearing at him, becoming physically more threatening and telling him they will beat him up in the car park. I had to get Fabio involved to protect him. One of these guys was not a member but it does not matter - after 2pm this club sells tickets to any guests who are with members without any checks so 1 might become a member and then they will pay to bring many friends in - a number of travellers have got in this way.
Yesterday a man brought his two young children who were shouting at 8am to the pool area - according to the rule of the club no children are allowed before 10am or after 6pm. When a member highlighted to the man that his children were not allowed before 10am a fight nearly broke out. The father became aggressive, voices were raised aggressively and a number of us who felt uncomfortable had to leave.
Later on the same day 4-5 grown up men walked into the club and dining areas from the pool in wet swimming suits only and no tops or even shoes. They were talking very loudly, completely oblivion of others and their surroundings and one of the female staff seemed very uncomfortable. I went and reported it to the reception and the duty manager Raj asked them to put some clothes on. They completely ignored him and came back a second time an hour later with no tops on and genuinely Raj could do no more with 5 aggressive men. The fault is completely with management which sells day tickets to people who yesterday resembled travellers who are currently in the area in Surrey and the fact that they have overcrowded the club through an indiscriminate member recruitment strategy which is obviously driven by the Venture Capital firm who owns the club. VC’s need to demonstrate significant revenue growth in order to be able to sell the business on growth multiples eventually.
