AVOID - AVOID - AVOID - AVOID
MANAGEMENT, you NEED to read this as it’s a brutally honest review from myself, a loyal member of over 10 years.
Genuinely really fed up with this place. The air conditioning in the gym has been broken since Covid. It barely functions if it’s not too hot, but as soon as it heats up outside, it packs up. Then, the staff will fob you off with the same excuse every time “an engineer has been called” and then they wait till it cools down again & they have you believe it’s been fixed. Clearly the system needs replacing, yet they don’t want to spend the money replacing it.
A lot of the gym equipment, particularly the seats are split & have duck tape over it. Most of the cables are frayed at the ends which prick your skin when you hold / pull them.
Weights / plates equipment is seldom put back until the end of the day & staff never ask members to do so, resulting in it looking like a weight jumble sale. Plates & dumbbells everywhere. On the odd occasion plates are on the racks, you’ll find 5kg plates & 10kg plates buried behind a stack of 20 & 25kg plates.
Staff on the gym floor have ZERO interest in members. If a novice is seen lifting a weight incorrectly or using a bit of equipment incorrectly where they could easily injure themselves, nothing is said. No help or advice given.
There’s only 2 male toilets (excluding urinals) throughout the entire club for members to use. I’ve witnessed members use the toilets, (when they are working) and don’t wash their hands & then head straight onto gym floor & use equipment you’ll later use. Lovely.
Then the car park. You’ll never get a space in peak hours & you’ll have to park in an unsecured dirt / gravel carpark in Hobble Down, behind David Lloyds. Which is not lit in the winter and has a road surface that has more water filled pot holes than tarmac.
The outdoor pool looks appealing when you first join. Then you’ll see it get progressively more & more yellow throughout the summer and realise it’s as much of a members toilet, than a swimming pool.
There’s a lot more I can add, but I think I’ve said enough & highlighted the main issues.
The club is clearly VERY over subscribed, yet they continue to sell more and more memberships for an already very overstretched, barely functioning club. For the ever increasing price they charge for membership, it’s an absolute joke of a facility that appears to be run by highly inexperienced young staff.
The reply this review will receive will be pretty robotic & will no doubt be along the lines of : Hi there, we’re sorry to hear you feel this way and take your feedback very seriously. Please contact us so the Club Manager can get in touch to discuss your concerns further. Thank you for bringing these issues to our attention.
But please don’t bother. I’ve addressed these issues with you multiple times over the years and it falls on deaf ears every time. So no, I’m not going to email you. That ship has sailed. I will simply just cancel my membership & take my money else where to a club that values members, before profit margins.

I went to the club today to join a friend for coffee and ended up signing up when I saw the stand out facilities. I've been looking for a gym that can offer more and this ticked all the boxes not just for me but for my family as well. A shout out especially to Max for giving me such a thorough tour and showing all the different facilities on offer. I was thoroughly impressed.

I recently joined David Lloyd Epsom and have had a fantastic experience so far. My partner was already a member, but I was quite nervous about joining and attending classes on my own. From the very beginning, Max from the sales team made me feel completely at ease.
He took the time to give me a thorough tour of the club, answer all of my questions, and explain everything clearly. He also helped combine our memberships into a joint membership, making the whole process simple and hassle-free.
Max’s friendly, professional, and genuinely supportive approach made a huge difference and gave me the confidence to get started. I’m so pleased I joined and would highly recommend David Lloyd Epsom, especially thanks to the excellent service I received from Max. Thank you for making me feel so welcome! 😊

I visited this DL over the weekend, having been there a few times several years ago. Since then there has been the refurb and the spa introduced etc. Overall it was nice, I didn't get to use the spa but that appears to be of a decent standard as with many other DL gyms.
I have used around 12+ DL over the last couple of years and so was able to compare this to the others in the network.
The car park was busy when i went and limited for space, however this is a common issue so not unexpected.
The gym is of a decent size, and has an extensive range of equipment. However the one thing that I was not too impressed with was the age and condition of quite a lot of the fixed machines, attachments and accessories etc. Much of it was very old, worn and probably some of the most worn equipment i have seen at any David Lloyd. If a refresh is performed then it would make the gym experience significantly better and more comparable to some of the better DLs in the network.
