  Amazing gym, staff, facilities really the best of the best, unfortunately too busy at times, quing up to use equipment somtimes, so having to bend gym schedule to off peak times. I find these to be good times to go: 6am-8am 11am-1pm 3pm-5.30pm Weekends first thing 7am-11am

  I like the gym, the spa facilities are the best compared to local gyms in the area. I was signed up for a year last September, but when my renewal came through they wanted to increase my membership price by £16/month. When I called them up, instead of any negotiation they said you can cancel the membership. I’ve tried calling Headoffice a few times but after a 30 mins wait and being told I’m number 1 in the queue, the phone line gets disconnected. Very disappointed.

  I have used Virgin Active on and off ever since I was a child and used to go with my family, but I’ve just cancelled my membership for the last time unfortunately. Since when did commercial gyms become so expensive? My membership was due to renew, but as I am moving out of Solihull in the next 6 months I didn’t want to be tied into a 12-month contract. They informed me I wasn’t moving far enough away for them let me cancel earlier than 12 months and a rolling monthly contract would cost £135 per MONTH, sorry what?! They have let WAYYYY too many people join (greedy) to the point where the gym is constantly so busy you actually can’t enjoy or do a session properly half the time. They have also shot the prices up because they have hopped on the bandwagon and built a new reformer studio (shock) that, even if you don’t want to use, you technically have to pay for through increased membership prices? Fair enough, they did refurb the gym (made it worse in my opinion) but decided having 10 squat racks and 1 Smith’s Machine was a great refurb idea? The rest of the gym (spa, changing rooms) is very outdated and in need of some serious TLC. Another commercial gym who think they can start charging crazy premium prices for the complete opposite of a premium experience. Honestly, look elsewhere, it’s not worth the money joining here.

  Honestly; what a Fantastic club.... Virgin active Solihull is one of best gyms in the West Midlands and is great value for your money. The gym floor is simply amazing and the management are always spending money on improvements. The staff are so very kind and always willing to help. I have nicknamed this club ; calling it "Costa del Solihull" in the summer. It's bloody amazing...You could be anywhere in the Med when the sun's out ,whilst sitting around the virgin active pool. There are ample new sunbeds ;some of which overlook the pool with an outside sauna and jacuzzi as well as a large swimming pool. All the staff and management are very friendly. There is a real big social community at this gym where most people are friendly. However; your always going to get one or two bad apples that try to spoil things for the mass unfortunately. But that's life.... Parking is free for up to 4 hours so you just need to remember to type in your car registration on the day you visit. One suggestion to management would be to for members to nominate a single car registration; so that whenever the car is parked in their car park ,then there would be no fine incurred should members forget to type in their car registration. Bullying or racism is not tolerated at the club in any way or form. Great friendly club and ALL are welcome regardless of colour , religion or creed. I highly recommend anyone joining this awesome club for the social aspects and gym facilities. I love this club❤️.

  Honestly, one of the worst gym experiences I’ve had. My issues with Virgin Active go far beyond the usual complaints about a busy gym. I have repeatedly experienced behaviour from other members that I consider racist, and as an Asian person I have often felt singled out, uncomfortable and unwelcome. This has happened on multiple occasions, and it is extremely upsetting to feel that there is an attitude towards Asians that is simply being tolerated. The customer service has also been atrocious. I have had issues with parking fines where I felt completely unsupported by the club, despite being a paying member. When you are paying a significant membership fee, you expect the club to actually help when problems arise — not simply wash their hands of it. The gym equipment is constantly overcrowded and difficult to use, which makes the experience frustrating, particularly considering the cost of membership. What is perhaps most shocking is the way my belongings have been treated. On multiple occasions, staff have thrown my things in the bin. I personally witnessed this happening, yet when I raised it, I was simply told that it didn't happen. Being told that something I personally witnessed did not happen is incredibly insulting and completely destroys any trust in the staff. Between the repeated experiences of racism, the lack of support with parking issues, overcrowded equipment, appalling customer service and staff handling my belongings in this way, I have had more than enough. For the amount Virgin Active charges, the standard of service and treatment is simply unacceptable. I would strongly think twice before spending your money here. A premium membership price means nothing if members don't feel respected, listened to or treated fairly.
