  Staff working very hard as renovation nears completion. Very friendly welcome at reception by Brooke who seemed knowledgeable about all updates. Can’t wait for the new look soon.

  My parents have been members since the club opened. I’m no longer a member but since my in-laws were visiting from abroad, my dad arranged some guest passes for myself, my husband and the in-laws. They don’t speak any English and the experience was just organised as a family day out. When we arrived, the girl at the reception desk was probably one of the rudest and most combative people I’ve met from the outset. I think she’d been having a rough day and wanted to take it out on us. She made no attempt to be warm or friendly and had total contempt for us. She said our guests who were travelling from abroad needed to download the David Lloyd app and use the WiFi which was a faff considering they don’t speak English and didn’t really know what they were doing. We spent about 10 minutes trying to do this and it wasn’t working, all with the receptionist being rude as possible making comments like, “not my policy”. She eventually allowed my in-laws to sign a waiver which would have been nice 10 minutes prior and saved us some embarrassment, particularly as my baby was getting fussy. It ended up a really stressful and embarrassing experience. I can understand that there are processes and policies but some flexibility would be nice given the context of the visit and my dad’s longstanding membership. It would also have been nice to have been treated with common decency but it seems the receptionist is incapable of that.
