  I really loved this gym, so it’s upsetting to write this review. I referred a friend because the app promised a free month, but there was no clear information in the app about the terms, no link, and no extra explanation. When I asked about it, I got ignored. I’m not going to get that free month, and that is exactly why this feels so unfair. The whole thing should have been made clear from the start instead of being hidden on the website. I was hoping to come back, but after this experience, it feels like a scam and I do not want to return.

  Been a member here for two years. The gym is fully open again, but it was closed for several months during the renovation, and even now it still feels like a construction site in places, I've been in the shower trying to relax after a workout while drilling was going on right next door. The renovation itself is a good thing, new machines, new weights, and I'm not against the upgrade. What I can't get past is how it was handled: the gym was shut in multiple parts for months, then work continued during opening hours around members instead of overnight when the place is empty. My guess is night work simply costs more, so that cost got pushed onto members instead of absorbed by management. Noisy, disruptive work involving fumes and paint has no business happening while people are training or showering. On top of that, there's a strange smell throughout the gym, like bacon or beef like how?! 😅 Not exactly what you want to walk into during a workout. But the real issue is this: despite being closed for months and disruptive for months after reopening, existing members were given absolutely nothing. I asked directly for a discount or partial refund to reflect the months we couldn't properly use the gym we're paying for, and was told no. Loyal, paying members who stuck around through all of this deserved better than silence or a NO. As a direct result of that decision... no refund, no discount, no goodwill toward the members who kept paying through months of disruption, here's the review you should have expected 👍

  I was I member of Virgin Active Salford Quays, I had to say I was disappointed. All Virgins in Manchester area were all closed down so Salford Quays was the only one left so gym was overcrowded I told them after my 1 years contract I will live in Wales for 1 month and they emailed me they will freeze it for 1 month and they didn't. Other lies happened also machines brake down often jacuzzi is cold. It's about £80 per month and they don't treat members very good! Management are very bad and life guards are ignorant, but I must say the staff at reception are very respectful. I was a member of Virgin when it first opened about 2011 then left in 2014 and the gym was very good rejoined in 2023 and its garbage, apart from receptionist. I will never set foot in Virgin again and I am now a member of a great gym.

  Big thanks for Lia for sorting a membership freeze at short notice - had been unexpectedly away for most of June so a little late getting the request in last week. Very long time member so great it could be sorted. Also a shout out to Amy who previously sorted a getting a parking ticket removed when they had changed the system this time last year and it was causing confusion. Had meant to leave a review on this before now! Thanks again guys.
