David Lloyd Cheadle continues to impress every time I visit. The club strikes a great balance between high-quality facilities, a friendly atmosphere, and plenty of opportunities to stay active and meet new people.
The racquet sports facilities are a particular highlight. The padel courts are excellent, and there’s always a great buzz around the sport. Whether it’s organised sessions, social matches, or simply getting on court with friends, the club has created a fantastic environment for anyone who enjoys racquet sports. The coaching and events are well run, and it’s easy to see why padel is growing so quickly here.
Beyond that, the club is consistently clean and well maintained, and the staff are always welcoming and helpful. It’s a place where you genuinely look forward to spending time, whether you’re training hard or just enjoying an active afternoon.

I joined David Lloyd Cheadle because it is close to home and, importantly, because I wanted to make full use of both the co-working facilities and the health suite. At approximately £190 per month, I expected a premium experience and a high standard of customer service.
Unfortunately, my experience has been the complete opposite.
One of the main reasons I joined was to work from the club, however the WiFi and mobile signal have been consistently poor, making it extremely difficult to work or take business calls. The club has acknowledged this issue and advised that it is unlikely to be fully resolved until a future refurbishment, with no confirmed timescale. As someone who specifically joined to use the co-working facilities, this has been extremely disappointing.
What has had the biggest impact on me, however, has been my experience within the spa and relaxation areas. These are spaces intended for peace, quiet and wellbeing, yet on multiple occasions I have been exposed to conversations involving graphic violence and threatening behaviour.
On one occasion, whilst sitting in the meditation room, I had to listen to a detailed conversation about someone having their throat slit and police involvement. At the time I was already going through an incredibly difficult period personally and had gone there simply to find some peace and quiet. Instead, I left feeling distressed and upset.
On another occasion, I witnessed a member making aggressive threats over the phone about “wiping the floor with someone” and “smashing all their windows in.” The conversation was so concerning that I recorded part of it because I genuinely couldn’t believe what I was hearing in what is supposed to be a health and wellness environment.
I fully appreciate that David Lloyd cannot control every conversation members have. However, I do expect inappropriate behaviour to be addressed when it is reported, particularly in designated quiet areas where phone calls are not permitted.
What has disappointed me most has been the handling of my complaint. I first raised my concerns in January after reporting the incidents. I was told somebody would contact me, but nobody did. Since then I have repeatedly had to chase for responses, often waiting weeks at a time. At the time of writing this review, I am still waiting for a response to my latest follow-up email, meaning my complaint remains unresolved.
As a result of both the incidents I experienced and the way my complaint has been handled, my attendance at the club has reduced significantly despite continuing to pay approximately £190 per month. David Lloyd can verify this through my membership access records.
The facilities themselves have potential, but a premium membership should come with premium customer service, effective complaint handling and an environment where members can genuinely relax. Sadly, that has not been my experience.
I sincerely hope David Lloyd reviews both its complaint handling process and the management of its wellness areas so that future members do not have the same experience.

I’ve been going to David Lloyd Cheadle for a while now, and it’s one of the best investments I’ve made in my health and social life. The facilities are excellent, always clean and well-maintained, and there’s a real community feel throughout the club.
The standout feature for me is the racquet sports offering, particularly the padel courts. The courts are fantastic, well looked after, and there’s a great mix of organised sessions, social games, and opportunities to play competitively. Whether you’re new to padel or play regularly, it’s easy to find games and meet like-minded people. The tennis and other racquet sports facilities are equally impressive.
The atmosphere around the racquet sports community is especially welcoming, and it’s become one of my favourite ways to stay active while having fun. The staff are friendly, helpful, and genuinely passionate about helping members get the most out of the club.
If you’re looking for a premium health club with outstanding padel and racquet sports facilities, I’d highly recommend David Lloyd Cheadle. Five stars from me.

What an amazing experience from start to finish! The gym and spa facilities are absolutely brilliant – everything is modern, spotless, and has such a relaxing atmosphere. It's the perfect place to focus on your fitness while also having somewhere to unwind and recharge.
The highlight of my visit was definitely Lizzie. She was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and knowledgeable throughout the whole sign-up process. From the moment I arrived, she made me feel completely comfortable and took the time to show me around properly, explaining everything in detail without ever making me feel rushed.
Her enthusiasm and genuine passion for helping people really stood out. It's rare to come across someone who makes such a positive first impression. Lizzie is an absolute asset to the team and played a huge part in my decision to join.

I honestly couldn’t recommend this gym and spa enough. The facilities are fantastic, always clean, welcoming, and have everything you need whether you’re looking to work out, relax, or both.
A special mention has to go to Lizzie, who helped me sign up. I was feeling a little nervous and unsure at first, but she immediately put me at ease. She took the time to give me a thorough tour, answered all of my questions, and made me feel genuinely welcome from the moment I walked through the door.
Lizzie’s friendly, professional approach made such a difference and turned what could have been a daunting experience into a really enjoyable one. She’s a real credit to the team.
